Default ? about biotin

Havent had much hair loss yet but got some biotin 5000mcg yesterday. Started taking 1 a day. My Dr didnt say to take it but have read a lot of post here that said it would help. The bottle said not to take with other medician so taking it right before bed. I've also seen shampoo and conditioer with biotin. Has anyone tried it?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I take the Biotin....haven't noticed that it has helped but I have not had drastic hairloss yet. I am taking it just incase. Can't hurt!!! I have seen the shampoos but have not heard any positive results from it. Anxious to see what everyone says about them!

Never saw the shampoos with it in it, what r they called and where did you happen to see them? I have been taking biotin 5000 since about a month after my surg. it doesnt prevent hairloss, it is supposed to aid in the re-growth of hair. It has grown back slowly, and unfortunately straight up into the air, lmao, it does settle with gravity when it gets a little longer!!!! I felt I was losing alot of hairm but at about 6- 7 months it slowed way down so hang in there, this to shall pass! Kathy

I take Biotin every morning with my vitamins, calcium & estrogen...I'm just past 9 months out and the hair loss thing has slowed down SUBSTANTIALLY...it seems to hit around 50 pounds and go from there.....the biotin won't stop it, but does promote new hair growth...you will notice baby hairs around the edges of your scalp...you will also have to shave your armpits and legs more often...it promotes hair growth ALL OVER...the bonus is it will make your nails grow too!!!

I just upped to a 5000 chewable, it seems to have slowed me down a bit loss wise, still losing a bit though. I started mine before surgery because I have thyroid problems. Its almost by the book when it starts and stops with everyone. I refuse to cut all my hair off, I wear it back alot, it is alot thinner. Don't get yourself in the crazy cut it off mood, you'll be bummed

I use Biotin Shampoo and Condition about 3x's a week. WOW, the new growth is amazing. The hair is thick and really wavy...which I have always had thin and straight as a board! I also take the 5000mcg of Biotin a day. I get the shampoo from the health food store. It is about $6.00 a bottle.

Kim, I'll have to try that! I've always had thin straight hair. I take the biotin everyday, so hopefully someday it'll grow back, but I'm still losing lots of hair. It's not a fun part of the journey!

The shampoo and conditioner that I use is by Mill Creek and can be purchased by the Vitamin Shoppe...in store or online. I also found that Nexxus makes a Biotin shampoo, but dang, $26.00 a bottle. No thanks! I will keep using the $6.00 bottle by Mill Creek. I told my hair dresser about it and she told me that was a good idea, but not to use it more than 3 days a week as it could really dry my hair out, but I havent noticed that at all with taking her advice.

Kim I ordered some on-line, shipping was only $3. I'll let you know how it is for me! Plus I wouldn't mind if my hair got dried out becasue it gets oily fast.
