Hey all,

Hope everyone is well! I was just curious if anyone saw this article from July 24th, One Mans Journey

I have to admit it made me stop and think a minute (I'm still pre-op remember). Does anyone have any thoughts on the article? It did appear as though the data being collected was from several years ago when perhaps the surgery was still fairly new.

I'm going in tomorrow for some blood work and my first consultation with the dietician. Wish me luck!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

GOOD LUCK SLOOPY keep us posted of your journey!
READ the article...but i guess for me the most important
thing that mattered to me was my particular sugeons
success rate! AND to date he hadnt lost any patients
and his patients have great tolerances to foods! AND as
i have said on the boards before, the HEALTH risks for me
walking around at my max weight was just as dangerous
as the risks for surgery. I was a stroke or heart attack
waiting to happen and my high weight. SO that kept
me positive knowing being morbidly obesite (how i hate that term)
was just as dangerous and the complication rate for surgery.
KEEP us updated on your journey, such an exciting time for ya

Hi, just read the article, I think in this world of surgery there are complications for every surgery there is. Sometimes if you read the satistics for heart bypass, would you have it done. I had a scope go up the vein in my groin to see if my heart was ok and after I had it done I read the stats, and gezzz, it was terrifying. But it is considered safe and reliable, the hosputal and Dr who did my surgery is :a center of excellence" does that make it better? Who knows? According to the insurance comp., it does...
There are probably more complications from morbid obesity than gastric bypass.... I wonder....

Hey Sloopy...I am glad to see you posting again on the board and I understand your hesitation. Nobody can make the decision to move forward except you, and you have to be comfortable with it. On the other hand it is perfectly normal to have concerns. In fact if you didn't I would be more worried... best of luck sweetie.

Here's the train of thoughts of a member when she was pre-op. She's successfully on the big loser trail now.
The choice is yours to make. I hope you find what is the right answer for YOU.
