Default TMI....but oh well.....

I figure we all have some amount of stomach skin hanging at some level, rite? At least most of us. Well my question is is your skin under the fold like tissue paper? Mine seems to rip at the touch sometimes. I have a very good cream from my surg.to use but this hurts when it happens and it gets REAL sore and inflamed. My surg, knows and takes pics.(for plastic surg.) and gave me the cream, also I see him on the 13th. It goes along with the rash thing I know, but I was just wondering if anyone elses skin is super thin. TKS. Kathy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I think it is related to the rash/yeast issue coz I do that under my breasts and it takes nothing to tear the skin. It's a very good idea to document so you can get it taken care of when you're ready.

Kath,
Mine is super thin in areas not all over, mine are on my thick stretch marks...the stretch marks are really thin and break open sometimes. Other then that I dont have too many issues on my skin.

Well, since your surgeon is aware, keeps records of it, and has medication ready, that means that some of his other patients get that way, too.

I also have this and figured it was from the stretch marks, and the skin staying moist most of the time from not having air. I do get rashes too. Sometimes if I am not careful when in the shower just the washcloth going over these areas will tear them open like crazy, it really burns, soap in them and it takes forever for it to heal up.

Hi even though I have not had surgery yet, I have a hanging belly and used to get rashes that would get infected, most of the time during the summer, Doc told me to cleanse with (HIBICLENS) leave it on a few minutes then rinse well, once dried use cornstarch, that seems to keep it the driest. Hibiclens is a antibacterial and microbial soap that surgeons use to scrub up with or clean area of surgery. You can get it at most any pharmacies.

Thin skin is very common with obese patients who have lost weight. We had a local plastic surgeon speak at our support group last month. He mentioned that doing plastic surgery on WLS patients took some specialized procedures and instruments due the the very thin skin. This local plastic surgeon did 70 procedures on ex-obese patients last year in southern CA. People fly in for his services, one woman flew in from Hawaii a few months ago too. He said he can fix any part of the body with sagging skin. Only thing he said he can't do is to make a good looking butt. He said the butt implants do not work well on WLS patients, as the implants tend to "float around". Can't imagine anything worse than floating cheeks after spending a lot of money. PM me if you want his name and contact phone number. DAVE

I also have a hanging skin by my stomach. You can see it on some of my pictures. Once I have all my weight off I am going to have it taken care off. The fold under the hanging stomach itches so bad and the doctor gave me some cream and it helps somewhat. As far as thin skin, that I do not have just the bad itch and then I scratch until it bleeds sometimes and then it is so sore and takes about a day or two to heal a little. I sometimes have to use a thin towel between my fold to keep it dry. I only do this when I am at home. I have tried powders and it does not work for me. Seems to make it itch worse. That is the only place that I have issues with itchy skin.

you could purchase at the pharmacy ABD pads, they are rather large that helps absorb the moistur in these areas... we've used these in the hospital with skin issues.
i'm sure not the most comfortable thing, but maybe when your home????

hope this helps!!!

DOCUMENTATION IS THE KEY FOR FUTURE REMOVAL OF THE SKIN!!!|

LOL,
