Unhappy Bummed out

I had my 3 1/2 month check up yesterday. The lab was closed so I still have to get my blood work, but we discussed ultimate goals. He told me people usually wind up 20lbs from where their body would be at an ideal weight. Mine was 128 and I had told him I was gunning for 150lbs. He told me that he fully expects me to get to 128 no problem. That should make me happy, but it actually depresses me. I would be perfectly happy under 170 and now he has put all this pressure on me. People tell me I look mornal now. I've always worn my weight VERY well and I don't think I even want to know what I'd look like at 128! All skin and bones. I'm married to a latin guy - they like curves! My goal is still 150, but now I'll feel like I'm disappointing my doc. I'll be moving in October, so I guess he'll never know.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Drs are strange arent they somtimes. Honey i have seen people set a goal for themselfs here to change there mind later either saying hey I feel great at the weight I am or deciding no I need to set it lower. I think when we get to where we need to be mentally and physcially we will know it. Mine has left that up to me from what he told me yesterday myself. The goal you see that I have posted is one that goes by BMI and nothing else. It will take me just under not being overweight by 5 pounds. I will try to make my goal however..... if i get close and I feel great im not gonna beat myself up over it if I dont quite make it.

I expect he's saying that number from your height. Also, he probably said the number from the rate you are losing now. Even if you reset your goal to 130, you've already lost half of even that. These are probably the two factors that made your surgeon give you that number. I wouldn't dwell too much on it. If you don't like it, you don't have to meet it, nor do you have tho feel under pressure. Just do what you need to do, and let your body decide.

Oh Kelly!!
I feel for ya with the hubby that likes a "Women with some MEAT on their BONES!!"
My hubby is African/Arab who is the same way...
It's so funny, cause he keeps saying, "If you just get under 200, you'll be GREAT!!!!"
Well, the fact of the matter is I did this surgery for MY OVERALL HEALTH, with that being said I will get to a size I feel comfy with!!!!!!
Your surgeon is looking at how short you are my dear, but you & I know that as nurses, we don't tend to follow the DOC's "rules" When you get to where YOU are happy & contend with yourself, mind & body, you'll know!!!!!!!

Your doing fantastic with your weight loss thus far!!!!!!!!

Keep it up, you'll be at YOUR goal in NO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL,

Did your doctor say you NEED to get to 128? or did he say you should have no problem getting there?? Big difference. I told my doc I wanted to get to 135 and he said I should have no problems getting there at all. I didn't take that to mean that's where he wanted me, just that I shouldn't have a problem getting there. He said I'd probably adjust my goal again by the time I'm half way losing weight.

I think he was trying to give you confidence in yourself, not put pressure on you to get to your goal.

Hugs...

Kelley you are only 1 inch taller then me and my doc told me he would be thrilled for me to get to 150...when I made it he was so excited and told everyone in the office I was officialy a success...so honey dont you stress it if you feel good at 150 then thats where you need to be, at 150 I was happy, I am of course even happier now but still 150 isnt a bad weight to be at our age and heigth

I agree with everyone else. You lose weight until you are comfortable in your body not what the doctor wants. I am sure you will be successful. Don't put 128 in your head and stress over it. It isn't worth it. (((HUGS)))
