Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  Am I wrong? OK I totally need to vent...my mom and I take a dance class, TOTALLY for fun and have no intention of performing. The class was formed as a "for fun" type of thing. Well now a few of the skinnier gals have decided they wouldn't mind performing, which is totally cool by me more power to you, but our teacher wasn't happy that mom and I weren't wanting to perform. So I e-mailed the teacher and told her that I wasn't comfortable being on stage b/c of my weight right now...leave it be. My girls both take dance at the same place - so I was picking them up and heard her pointing out my friend (one of the skinny gals  ) and saying something about how they'll be dancing with her. The new lady says "well look at how skinny SHE is, she must not be one of the ones complaining about her weight..." and the teacher cut her off as I was standing right there. I was LIVID. I mean, if you wanna advertise and get some new people so you have more than two people performing at the recital in TWO WEEKS, that's fine, but why use the fact that mom and I don't want to dance on stage b/c of our weight as part of your advertisement? Am I wrong to be upset?So after the girls recital in two weeks...that might be the end of our dancing career...which makes me sad as I totally love tap dancing, it is HARD work and so much fun! So we shall see....maybe if I take a month or so off for surgery this summer then it will blow over? Ugh. Hope all is well with you guys! My home computer isn't too fond of this site, as for some reason it keeps jamming up and freezing when I try to log on...so I downloaded a new free antivirus and that seems to help. I swear I can't keep the cooties off this machine of mine!  Have a great Mother's Day!!!! Kim

| Super Moderator  | Sorry to hear what happened. However, if you love dancing, find a way to continue doing it. Besides being great exercise for you now, it will be wonderful for you post op as well, and will also serve as an outlet to stabilize your rocky emotions as you go through your post op journey. I'd even be tempted to say something in front of that class, since they know anyway, I'd confront her in front of everyone, tell her I thought our conversation was confidential and that I was sorely dissappointed in her lack of professionalism and class and that my girls and I would be looking for another establishment. There is no excuse for her behavior and she owes you and your mom a public apology. I hope she has enough sense to be embarrassed. I think you did everything right and am proud of you for standing up for yourself, but by all means, keep dancing!!!!
