| I had my first follow-up this morning with the surgeon after my clinical trial surgery last Wednesday, 6/4. He did give me a prescription for Percocet as I'm still having a good amount of pain, especially when I first wake up from sleeping or a nap. I was blown away when the surgeon came in and told me to start on soft foods. It's only been 5 days! I clarified with him that it's soft foods, not liquid diet for longer or move on to puree'd foods before soft foods and he again told me, "No, you can have cooked carrots, cottage cheese, applesauce, etc." WHAT?!? He told me because my stomach and intestines weren't chopped up and rerouted as much as a gastric bypass patient, I don't have to be on liquid as long and I only have to do the soft foods for one week! I was really shocked by what he was saying. He said he'd also like me to start doing a decent amount of exercise and not just "taking it easy" by Friday. I'm kind of excited! I have to go in the first week of July for my endoscopy, meeting with the surgeon, meeting with the nutritionist, and the blood work where they draw my blood for two continuous hours. Fun fun! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was on soft foods at 2 weeks per my surgeon and pureed at the hospital. I only did liquids for 24 hours. Which was like the first 24 hours in the hospital that I was knocked out so it didn't phase me. Every doc is different!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was on liquid only for a week after surgery and then pureed fod for three weeks. My doc was pretty conservative about foods. I think that was what made me so uncomfrtabe in the beginning. I was feeling so lousy from lack of calories and the head hunger. Getting back on real foods wll probably make you feel a lot better. Keep up the good work. You are on your way! |

| About the regret question... I'm still not sure. I'd like to say "no"...but there are still too many unknowns. Tomorrow my sutures could pop and make the last week of pain completely pointless. THAT scares me. My doc normally has his gastric bypass patiens do: clear liquids in the hospital, two week liquid diet at home, two week puree'd diet, two week soft food diet, and then regular food... Meaning you're not eating regular food until six weeks after your surgery. Huge difference for me! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Did you have Lap done? Like I have 5 key holes. Is that what you have? I will be following you for sure. This is brand new to the boards which I think is great. Read you med bottle and see it it says to take with food or milk. I still think you will tolerate it better with somthing on your tummy while taking it. Im glad you get to have soft foods. Trust me when we were not allowed......we did have head hunger and it causes you to be so weak. Perhaps you will not have to deal with that part. |

| No, I did not have a lap band. Lap band is not a clinical trial as it's been performed for a few years now nationwide. My surgery is still in the clinical trial stage at this hospital and is NOT approved by the FDA. It'll be about 7-ish years before this surgery will be approved by the FDA and performed at hospitals. They suture my stomach to reduce the size without cutting it or putting a foreign object int my abdomen as they do with the lap band. |
