I only have eaten pickled watermelon and plan on getting a watermelon soon. I have been eating cantalope alot lately and it agrees with me real well and i lose eating that. I actually lose real good eating any kind of fruit. I am a huge fruit eater. I also like certain veg. and I think it is the ones that crunch that I crave. I am happy that we can eat food like that and not feel guilty. Vicky, thanks for taking the time to get the information on watermelon. It has many benifits right with it, that is great.

I LOVE watermelon!!! I'm into strawberries right now. They're good and sweet! I've been having then 2-3 times a day! But you can bet watermelon (and cherries too, thanks KB!) will be on my list and I can split it up more!

I did a week of watermelon because I was "Craving" it so badly. It was so good and juicy, but filled me up really fast. Never really thought about it being so "healthy" because it is sooooo good. Thanks Vickie!

Watermelon is a summer staple in this house.
My mother used to love to tell the story of when she was little. She was riding with her dad, a lineman working for the Edison company...you know....stringing high power electric wires from the dams to wherever electricity goes? Anyway, they were driving home to So Cal from a job at Parker, Arizona. They had a watermelon that they were going to bring home to her mom.
They had to cross a Dept. of Agriculture border crossing of some sort. Fruit could not come in or out Cali. Being a honest guy (and the fact the watermelon was sitting on the floor of the cab of the truck), Papa tried to tell the guy that it was for his wife and he was on the lines, whine, etc. NO soap.
Papa and Mom sat on the edge of the road, and ate over half a watermelon and when they were ready to burst, they threw the rest into the desert...Papa was D**NED if he was going to give those Ag guys the leftovers.
Watermelon has deep roots in this family....DON'T mess with my melon! LOL
