| Feels Like A Fifteen Minute Workout
First of all, sorry if this is TMI, but I HAVE to ask this question.
For about the last 2-3 weeks, every time I have a bowel movement, it is like a 15 min. workout to be able to go. What in the world is up with that? I feel the urge to go, but when I go the restroom, it takes an act of congress to be able to go. And it hurts so bad.
Again, sorry for the topic, but does anyone have any advice that can help me????

I have had that before but not since surgery. I am actually going a lot which is weird for me!! Try to get as much fluid as possible. That usually happens "I think" from it being drier and therefore making it harder to move down and pass. Make sure to increase water since you are working out. Working out usually helps to make it move! You could always to try to add a little green to your diet too...that makes me go big time!! If everything natural fails take miralax just to get stuff moving before you have to go through all that!

Shannon, what's weird is that I have never had a problem going and after surgery, I was going pretty regularly and easily. Just in the last few weeks have I started having this problem. I get in all my water in a day. I don't know what the deal is.

Did you hear about the constipated engineer who had to work everything out with a pencil?

water increase it...but also look at what supplements you're taking. I can't take iron as it makes me get so impacted that it is very painful..tried everything, cutting back on amount of supplement etc..and with the stenosis in my intestine I can't afford to have things NOT moving.
certain foods can make you get slowed down, plus if you are not eating enough it's a matter of in versus out you know?

Thats a good thought Bree...supplements. My doctor instructed me to take iron right off the bat. I was not anemic per my blood work and I told him I was not taking them. I have been impacted and had many bowel problems and it is awful. He agreed that I did not need to take them unless my levels were low or I was showing signs of anemia. But he was going to have me start taking them without needing them. I would probably be so clogged if I was taking them.

I feel your pain sweetie! I've had days like that before--as Bree suggested-up your water and be mindful of what you're eating. Sometimes things don't sit just right and play havic on our intestines. Good luck and remember, as the prefesser said, you can always work it out with a pencil!! OMG

I hate to ask a stupid question, but I take calcium chews, flintstone vitamins and biotin, along with a B12 sublingual every day. Is is the B12 that may be causing the constipation?

Christy-I don't think your supplements are causing it if that is what you are taking. You take EXACTLY what I take everyday. I think iron would be the biggest issue. Many docs tell women to take it automatically if the still have TOM. Have you added more protein. I know you were trying to break a stall a little while back. Maybe with the exercise...different foods...your body is going through a little something. I would try miralax see if that moves things quickly and then up your water a little bit more. You may need more water from the workouts and it getting warmer outside.

Maybe up your fiber too. Try and eat some stuff high in fiber. When I had that problem I started eating a bowl of high fiber cereal and I started going like clock work!!
