I had a 4th of July party on Friday and invited my family, friends, and DH's family. My DH's brother had lap band at the same hospital as me about 2 months prior. My surgeon suggested that I attend a support group and there was one just prior to my surgery so I attened. I ended up running into my DH's brother there. He attends the support groups regularly. I have not been back since my first meeting. At the party he asks me why I don't go to the meetings and how to be successful you need to have support. I immediatly started to feel guilty and like I was going to fail or something. I feel that I have been pretty successful thus far. My mom immediatly jumps in....."Shannon has an online support group that she reaches out to everyday. She has learned a lot of things there and has met a lot of people. The group sounds great!" I didn't realize how much I talked about everyone on here! I just want to thank everyone for being my support group!! This is better...WAY better then any once a month support group...atleast for me! My mom went on to defend how people have to do what works best for them. I agree! I have found a wonderful place here and a great support system and truthfully feel I would be lost in this journey with out everyone here!

I feel the exact same way that you do about the site. I knew I would not go to the support meetings, but this I can do and I find it very helpful and everyone is so willing to answer questions. Much better than saving up all the questions, many of which couldn't wait for a meeting.

Shannon, I agree! This is the best support for me! I do go once a month to my surgeons group which I really like, but I definitely rely on this group for everything besides a face to face discussion with a nutritionist! |

I agree 100%! This is the best place I ever found and it's even better than I could ever imagine! There are support groups around here, but they're farther away and being a single mom, I have trouble finding babysitters or the money for them and extra gas. This place keeps me sane, educated and on my toes! I will succeed and it will be because of you guys!

I agree with everyone here and this is my support group becasue we live to far away and I am on here every day, I should say a few times a day. Whenever I get a break I am here. I love this site and it sure has helped me and I would be lost without all of you. I can express myself much better here compared to being face to face. I am so afraid of making a fool out of myself and so I just keep my mouth shut most of the time and here I can say whatever I am feeling and I know you all understand. I also tell people about you all here and how wonderful everyone is doing and I tell them that the would not believe the change from the before and after pictures of everyone here. When some post pictures and my hubby walks by, he will stop and look at the pictures and he recognizes alot of the people on here already and he is amazed with the changes of everyone. So, yes, my friends all get to hear about you all, and they are just amazed as I am. So I have to say, you all are ideal support group for me. That was so nice of your mom to say that you have a support group on the internet. You are doing great with us as your support group.

I have not gone to a support group since my first one also and people also tell me you need to go to the support groups in order to be successful.
