Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | You should be following the plan that was set by your surgeon. I think that all of ours are a lil different on here. Protein FIRST, then veggies and then carbs if you have room. That is the basic rule to follow. Try to stay low fat. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Surgeons normally set up a eating protocol for at least the first 6 months or so. Past that time, you probably know what foods you can tolerate. Most patients can have a pretty normal diet, although smaller portions--avoiding the fatty or sugary foods that put on weight prior to surgery. Not every patient can tolerate the same foods, so you diet will be based on what your body seems to tolerate. Just remember, high protein content in almost every meal. DAVE

| Basically what we follow is a low carb diet. That is if you eat your protein first, then your veggies and then if any room carbs.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | For me it's a list of foods like fruits and veg, protein. (not in that order). I have to have at least 2 tbls of solid food each day and at least 64 oz of protein and water each day. After 6 months I can have pretty much what I can tolerate but like everyone else says protein, vegs and then carbs. Right now I can't have any carbs. Good luck.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | When people ask me what kind of diet I'm on, I tell them it's sort of a modified low-carb. I eat veggies and a lot more fruit than I used to, but I still shy away from any sugars. Sugar's a poison anyway - why did I used to think I needed it? But the order is definitely protein, then fruit and veggies, then if there's still room, carbs. If you need to have bread, try Melba toast. Small pieces, real easy to chew up fine, no soft, doughy chunks to plug the pouch exit. Or Wasa bread, or Rye-Krisp, or crackers, or ... CT
