Hey yinz guys its been a week. The pain on my right side is gone, thank god and of course you guys giving me the advice to walk it out, which I did. I do have a question though, around what week do you normally get to eat atleast blended foods. I'm hungry sometimes, but it is very intense. I've told my wife that I was going to eat anything regardless of the damage I'd do to myself. That aint good. Sugar free popsicles are good and usually make those cravings go away but how many can I have. One, Two, or as many as I can eat throughout the day? Anyway, I'm sure you all have been through this stuff too. Talk later

popsicles count as fluids so eat up!!
the hunger is probably in your head. once you get past the first few weeks it subsides. wait til your dr tells you you can have purees. they may start you on those soon. but be patient so that you dont hurt your innerds.
YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!! hang in there.

He's the final word, not us. For me, it was in week two that I got the OK to puree. Oh, sweet heaven! I'd been on the liquid pre-op diet for 2 weeks, then liquid for the first week post-op - I was ready to use that hand blender!!
You can say that you'll eat anything in your desperation, but don't listen to yourself! You think you've had pain so far? Brother, you ain't seen nuttin' yet if you try that!! Slow down, take a deep breath, put down the fork and step away from the table!! This is your head talking, not your pouch. It's in such rough shape now, you could invite more agony than you have dreamed of!! I ruptured my esophagus once. The only thing I can think of for a guy that could possibly be worse is a slow swarm of kidney stones!! Do not, I repeat DO NOT entertain that thought!! You will NOT like where it takes you!!
It gets better real fast once you get your clearance for purees and you're so close now. Tough it out, and you'll be a much lesser man for it!

I'm a week-and-a-half post-op, and I hear you about feeling hungry! I got to start pureed a few days ago, and it's nice to have something to supplement protein and popsicles! Strange thing is, now that I "can" eat, it turns out I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was last week. I do my two tablespoons and am done for hours. The head hunger is getting easier day by day. Just hang in there--you and your pouch will be glad you waited until your surgeon gives you the OK.

Ahh, head hunger talking. If SF popsicles are your saving grace, do as many as you need.
Only, be forewarned, check the label and see if they list sugar alcohols, these are sweetners that give some people the runs, so, intake-wise, it counts as fluids which is good, but too much may give you some discomfort.
Every day will become easier, so just take things one day at a time, and learn to make it through today for a few weeks.

Yep, eat those pops all you want! I ate the creamsicles once, but they werent as tasty as the regular flavored SF ones. Also, the icy pops (Flavor-Ice) SF are awesome! They are nowhere as cheap as the ones that you buy for the kids, but they sure are good!
