Default I miss my NSAIDS!

I was reading Jessica's post on her recent ulcer trauma and how we must follow our rules FOREVER. I was thinking, especially Thursday night, how Tylenol really does not cut my pain issues and it is my only regret to my surgery.

I have scoliosis BAD and I work full time on my feet. When I got back from my medical leave, my schedule was blessed with a couple hour-long gaps where I could rest my feet and back by sitting for a while. Because of my department's closure for 2 days last week, we were HOPPING Wed/Thurs/Fri, and my back pain returned with a vengeance!

I can find no comfortable position to lie down. Once things relax, if I try to get up within 4 hours, the pain along my posterior left ribcage is excruciating. My NSAIDS used to reduce some of the swelling so it would heal faster, but no more. I also have shoulder pain (bilateral impingements from repetitive motion), so lying on my side after a busy work day is not an option.

I see surgeon on Tuesday for my 3 mo. f/u. Maybe he can throw me an idea or two.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Ask about Aleve...my surgeon said I can take it ever so often....just not all the time....the pills they used to worry about because of where they would sit in your stomach while dissolving....this could cause ulcers....now that they have the gel filled tabs out....this is no longer a problem.....as always...check with your surgeon first!!

Talk with your surgeon about this. My surgeon stated at a recent support group, that he does prescribe Celebrex to people who have severe pain due in arthritus or other inflammatory health issues. He does tell them to take a Prilosec (which coats the pouch area) about 30 minutes prior to the Celebrex. The surgeon's father in law had RNY some 9 years ago and has used Celebrex in this manner. There is also one woman in one of my support groups who currently uses Celebrex too for some issues. DAVE

So sorry for you . . . back pain is the worst. I practically lived on prescription strength Motrin for my fibromyalgia pain prior to surgery. Tylenol doesn't work very well for me either, and Vicodin isn't an option at work when I need to stay sharp. I've found that spending time in my spa works wonders on my aching muscles. That and stretching are the only things that help. Good luck--hope your surgeon can help!

How about getting a referral to a pain management dr? They do have some tricks up their sleeves that are also safe for you.
((((HUGS)))) Hope a good night's rest improves your condition so you will be more comfortable.

I agree with doc. My wife has severe back pain, and she had a RNY revision July, 2007. She sees a pain managment doctor, and has for the past 2 years. He did prescribe a new anti inflammatory drug for her 2 months ago, although the name escapes me at the moment. Check with your insurance company to see if they offer a pain managment clinic, and then get a referral from your doctor if they do. DAVE
