Hi all! I just talked to my surgeon and he said that at about 6 - 8 weeks out from surgery scar tissue can form around the opening where the food goes down. That in turn narrows the opening somewhat and food can get stuck. He suggested I stay on liquids the rest of the day, soft food Friday and if it is not better I should call his exchange over the weekend. If it still stays blocked, I will have to have an endoscopy to open it up. Thought you should know the possibility of scar tissue forming.

tfrey I think thats called a stricture, several of our member have had this happen, Edie aka Boots being one, she had several dialations to open hers and now she is fine

Your surgeon's referring to strictures. Do a search with the word, and you'll come up with a number of threads, as this comes up from time to time, and is a relatively common complication that can be taken care of by an experienced surgeon relatively quickly.

My dr thought I had one around the same time as you, but as time went on things changed and I was able to eat without food getting stuck. But, like everyone else said it is pretty common and doesn't seem to be a problem once it's corrected. I had a girlfriend have it done and she's fine. Whatever happens, good luck.
