I am 12 weeks out from surgery. Does anyone know when the head hunger starts to diminish. I was hoping it would be gone by now and I would not want to eat more. Any ideas or even suggestions?

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I think mine start going away once they allowed me to start eating solid food.

I agree. Mine went away after I could eat real food. The weird part is that today I was talking about my 2 'old' favorite restaurants in Buffalo and as I was talking, I had no craving what so ever. It was a very odd experience because that never happened pre-op. In fact I'm going through an aversion to food right now and I'm struggling to eat.

I can't help you, since I'm only two weeks post-op, but I hope someone comes on soon. I don't even feel like I had surgery done. I am comfortably eating 900 calories a day. I don't even know what calorie amount I should be eating. I thought I remembered most post-ops only ate about 500-600 calories a day for the first couple of months.

I am never "full", and almost wish I would get a dumping feeling, just so I know I actually have a smaller pouch. Am I doing something wrong? My surgeon is not helping. He never even checked on me after the surgery (Iwas released by a resident) and when I went for my post-op check-up, he was "tied up" elsewhere and I was seen by a nurse practitioner.

Hope you get an answer soon, it might help me too. -Carol

Mine would come and go- still does, but seems to lessen over time. I will say I definitely notice the week before or at the start of TOM I am REALLY hungry and that's the hardest time for me.

Mine also stopped when I was able to eat regular food. Eating is more of a chore to me I rather drink my protein and I know thats not good except when I have a particular aunt that visits everymonth her name is Flo. LOL

I still struggle with head hunger on a daily basis. There are certain times of the day when I want to eat but I am not hungry at all. Those times are when I walk in the door after work and around 9:00 at night. At these times I take a bite of cottage cheese and walk away. I felt exactly like you did at 2 weeks out. I could eat 4 oz. of cottage cheese with no problem. I never dumped or threw up and I still never have. Somehow, the weight still comes off so I just try to listen to my body and only eat when I'm hungry, stop when I feel full, and make smart food choices.

I was exactly the opposite too, I don't think I ever got in my daily protein requirements till like 8 or 9 months out.I never felt hungry! For a while there my girl friend ( and I) were worried about me losing too much weight! Well here I am 1 year and 5 months later, I was 5 lbs from my goal weight and I have gained 6 lbs!!! I seem to have aquired that so called "head hunger" now! Help!
