I have a question. First of all, I have asked my doctor, and he says which ever I want to do is fine, but my question is..... is it best to eat 3 meals or day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, or is best to eat 5 smaller meals a day throughout the day? Whichever way, still consuming an average of the same amount of calories, protein, etc.? Thanks for any help. |

My opinion is 5 smaller meals a day, and for several reasons: We don't need to eat a lot at any one meal now, we feel full on so much less - so it's not like it's hard to do. Second, and most important (I think, anyway...) is that if you look at it as if you are fueling your body you want a slow and steady pace, or like feeding a fire...do you want a slow and steady burn or a roaring fire one minute and nothing in between? I think it helps with metabolism too - slow and steady.

I totally agree with Denise (she's a smart cookie!) It keeps your blood sugar level and helps reduce chances of feeling overly hungry and overeating. Plus- you can spread out your protein and get it all in throughout the day slowly which is better for absorption.

I agree with Denise and Kara. I do 5 or so meals a day. Mini meals. Works well for me. Some days I will only get the 3 in but most days I do more.

I don't get too much in during a meal, and find I get hungry every 3.5 to 4 hours. I eat 4-5 times a day, and it seems to keep me full and on track.

I am the same as Kath...3 meals a day and sometimes I snack or 2 in between. My surgeon doesnt like the snacking, he feels that it should only be 3 meals a day. Sometimes its hard to keep with that schedule though, you just want to chew!
