I have a question. First of all, I have asked my doctor, and he says which ever I want to do is fine, but my question is..... is it best to eat 3 meals or day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, or is best to eat 5 smaller meals a day throughout the day? Whichever way, still consuming an average of the same amount of calories, protein, etc.?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

My opinion is 5 smaller meals a day, and for several reasons:
We don't need to eat a lot at any one meal now, we feel full on so much less - so it's not like it's hard to do. Second, and most important (I think, anyway...) is that if you look at it as if you are fueling your body you want a slow and steady pace, or like feeding a fire...do you want a slow and steady burn or a roaring fire one minute and nothing in between? I think it helps with metabolism too - slow and steady.

I totally agree with Denise (she's a smart cookie!) It keeps your blood sugar level and helps reduce chances of feeling overly hungry and overeating. Plus- you can spread out your protein and get it all in throughout the day slowly which is better for absorption.

I agree with Denise and Kara. I do 5 or so meals a day. Mini meals. Works well for me. Some days I will only get the 3 in but most days I do more.

I don't get too much in during a meal, and find I get hungry every 3.5 to 4 hours. I eat 4-5 times a day, and it seems to keep me full and on track.

I am the same as Kath...3 meals a day and sometimes I snack or 2 in between. My surgeon doesnt like the snacking, he feels that it should only be 3 meals a day. Sometimes its hard to keep with that schedule though, you just want to chew!
