I'm super scared... went and had pre-op yesterday and scheduled for surgery tomorrow! I keep asking myself, WHY, am I doing this... there are so many risks... but then again, there are so many risks if I DON'T get the surgery. I've talked myself into having the surgery... talked myself out of the surgery only about a thousand times. I've NEVER had major surgery before and I'm the baby of the family (super sensitive child, even at 29!). Please tell me I'm doing the right thing... I'll feel so much better hearing it from those of you that have done it and gone through this same thing. TIA!

PUGMAMA! wow your sugery snuck up fast!!!! WHAT your experiencing is very normal! We are all worried going into this.... I just plunged forward and tried not to worry about antyhing but doing this to get healthy!!!!! I just kept telling myself over and over that if i didnt do this surgery, I was still a walking stroke or heart attack victim waiting for the event...so i felt the risks of this surgery were far less then what i feared each day. I went thru that keep busy nesting thing right before surgery which kept my mind off worrying! I shopped to keep the house stocked, i cleaned, moved furniture and made sure everything was in order. I am a very big chicken when it comes to surgery, probably why i have no thoughts whatsoever yet for plastics..... I can add hear that this surgery for me was far easier then my C section 3 years ago. BUT the surgery for me wasnt that bad. ITs very hard to gage we are all different and have different tolerances. NOW being 14 months out, and 143 lbs lighter " I AM HEALTHIER NOW THEN I HAVE BEEN IN THE LAST 20 years" and thats an awesome feeling. THEY finally fixed my birth defect of never getting full and now i eat like a lady! Good luck with your surgery and when your home and feeling up to it do let us know how its going. I am also sending you a pm so keep your eyes open for it hugzzzzzzzzzzz and your in my prayers for a perfect uncomplicated surgery.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Puggy.... Reading your post brought back soooo many of my own feelings....wow. I really can relate....except, I didn't have to talk myself into having it. I was sooooo sick of carrying the 184# extray pounds.....my doctors all said that in 5 years I'd be looking at a "very grim" future. That was soooo horrifying in itself....just reading the letter my doctor wrote to my insurance company....I knew that this was the right decision for me. I totally agree with everything "Fr1endly2" - Lisa said!!!! It's a hard time...and a scary choice...but, you are right....staying where you are at the weight you are is probably equally as scary. I know it was for me. It wasn't until about one month after my surgery and I had lost about 30# that I even realized how depressed I'd been the year before! Now, I'm only 4mos post op....but I've lost nearly 87#....and I'm feeling better than I have in "I can't remember!!" Something I did before my surgery is.... I wrote letters to my dearest of loved ones....and got things together in my house. (a bit of nesting like Lisa said....) The letters, for me, were for me to say everything I had to say before I went under the knife. I had only had one minor day surgery before this surgery...and it wasn't life changing. I'd never spent a night in the hospital....so it was a bit freaky. I just knew that I needed to dot all my "I's" and cross all my "T's"....and say everything I needed to say....so that if something were to happen....I'd have taken care of my loved ones here on earth. I knew that for me....whatever happened was out of my hands...and I was making the right decision. Honestly....I think you have for you too. It's still scary....but, you are on the road to an amazing....exciting.....freeing life. Trust me, you will not regret your decision.....just read about everyone here.....we've all had our "ups and downs"....but, with how we are feeling.....NOTHING compares! Let us know how you are....please keep posting!!!

Hey Pugmama...I know that this is very scary to go through, and I hope you are doing well, but I also know that it can be very worth it. I had mine in April of this year and have already lost 84 lbs and went from a size 26 to a size 16. There is no way I could be enjoying that kind of success on my own. This surgery was very necessary for my survival. We will be here for you every step of the way honey...just hang on and get ready for the ride of your life. We look forward to hearing all of your wow moments along the way. Janae |

Pug..this surgery was so easy... compared to my gallbladder removeal...I was out of commision for 8 weeks with that... only 2 week with WLS... it is scary if you have never had surgery, heck Id be lying if I didint say that i was wondering how I was gonna handle the tube for the urine... cant think of its name now... but it really was easy.. take each thing they do to you with patience and the knowledge that they are helping you for comfort and ability for you to be mobile. It will all go well, and please post often when you are able, we do care! Our thoughts are with you, you can be sure of that! Peggy/F
