I agree that you are the only one that can make the decision but like everyone has said....do the research. I did not opt for the band because the sucess rate is not nearly as high as with RNY. My surgeon would not even do the band. My brother-in law had the band in Dec of 07 just about a month and a half prior to my surgery. He lost 30lbs before the surgery and as of July he was down 90 but started at over 400lbs. July I was down over 80 having my surgery 1.5 months later with no pre-op loss. Point being.....the weight comes off MUCH slower. By the time I was ready to admitt I needed surgery to help....I wanted it to work and work fast. I was tired of being miserable and wanted my life back! That is exactly what I got and I couldn't be more pleased with the results!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My ins didn't cover lap band so I didn't have a choice and after doing some research I really felt that the lap band was just not for me. I couldn't see having to go have fills or unfills and not knowing if it would really work. So when I found that my ins didnt cover it well it was acutally kind of a relief I could focus on bypass. I for years never thought it was a good thing to change your plumbing and if you had asked me five years ago about doing this I would have said you have to be nutz to do that to yourself. But as my health got worse and the though of not being around for my kids because of something I could help. Well that just got to me, Now I wish I had done it before. I think its great that you got your ok for your surgery so many ppl here have problem after problem and I was one of them but I am with boots I think this is a sign. And remember fear can make you talk yourself out of just about anything even when you know you should do it. If you wait and things change with your ins in a few years you may not have a choice to get it or not and be just stuck. If they are going to pay and you like your dr and trust them then do what is best for your health and family. I seem to remember that you have diabetes in your family, I had it myself before my surgery and believe me a lot of the co morbities that come with weight are much more scary then the surgery. They know you are going to be anxious everyone is and they will work with you, No one expects you to be super woman hun. If you know in your heart you need this then thank God for the ins go ahead and go with the flow.. And you can come here and let us know all of your fears and problems and we will be with you all the way. |

I understand you e worry I think most of us went through the last minute undecision it is worth or not. My personal experience I always lived on diets since I was 15 years old throug the time I saw how my weight was going up and never down until one day I woke up desperate in total depression becasue I was even able to give bath to my youngest baby which is 1 year now. well after research I do believe best option was roux not the lap band. roux even more strict you see results faster and also keep you on track I know many people who did lap band and now are gaining weight begging to the insurance companies to pay them for the roux. as doctor sanae said if you have 100 pounds or more and you are sweetener, love fried foods and are sometimes emotional eater i recommend you the Roux all that applied to me and I ma doing great I dont feel crvings and you even will feel like now that you on diet taht you are starving to death. your pouch will be so little like a baby that with anything you will feel food the rest of the work is you work with your mind. I went back college and my free days i do work and study, walk every morning to go college around 6 blocks same afternoon key for all this keep your mind busy will be less harsh. Good Luck please consider Roux you will see at end you will make right decision. KISSES AND HUGS
