Default Top 10 Post-Op grocery list!

Hi all,

I'm two days away from surgery! Freaking out a little bit, but I suppose that's normal. I'm stopping at the grocery store on my way home from work today so I have the essentials on hand for when I get home. Any recommendations for must-have's for the first few weeks after surgery?

Thanks in advance!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

GET your chap stick!
SUGAR FREE jello
Low sodium beef and chicken broth
sugar free kookaide
crystal light...

well actually depends on the way your surgeon puts you
up the rungs of food. I know mine has folks come home still
on clear liquids.

I wasnt allowed milk based products for 2 weeks.

Hmmmm
well dont forget the chapstick for hospitol a must!!!!
let us know the food stage u go home on for my ideas!

I kept on hand my chewable vitamins, Chewable Gas X, liquid
tylenol (to sweet made me gag), and my surgeon has u on tums
when ur first home. DONT know if i helped but really matters
on what stage your surgeon sends you homeo n maybe call

According to my surgeon I'll still be on clear liquids for about the first week after I'm home. What about sugar free popsicles or is that too sweet?

yes i sued the sugar free ice pops to suck on.
BUT i know for me the broth was my favorite even
though it was hot outside and i would normally go for
cold, the warm broth felt best on my healing insides.
USUALLY im not a warm drinker!

I am with you Lisa on the hot drinks...I still cant handle cold drinks first thing in the morning......my first meal home was instant cream of wheat... it was like that prime rib I used to enjoy......even tho my DR said no caffine, I still enjoy my earl grey tea.. as a matter of fact I am drinking one now before i go to bed...

I deffinately loved the sugar free popsicles and even made my own of just lemon juice water, and splenda too. There towards the end it was the thing that saved my butt. I got so sick of broth. I also kinda cheated by adding some sugar free whipped topping to my sugar free jello at the end to make it go down better. Hope that everything goes well and we will be rooting for you.
