i use to have dial up i never did mine dial up but the kids would always complain so now i have verizon broadband through timewarner and i to hate tw everything kenyar and serrat said about them is so true i to had to wait 2 weeks for them to show up for phone service i got both through them phone and cable now i have broadband i wish it was another cable place beside tw but for here it seems they all we have go figuire.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  | As an Internet network engineer I have to put my two cents in ..lol First off any service has its drawbacks and outages but I have had a few different kinds of Internet and I always like the cable best it is fastest and constant and doesn't matter how far away you are from the DSL home base. I think you will be a lot happier with cable. And remember if you are running a wireless network of anykind to be sure it has its passwords set up to keep people out you dont want snooping or stealing your internet

Thanks, Lisa.  My wireless router is encryption protected. Ironically enough, I am borrowing a neighbor's unprotected connection now. So, yesterday the phone line died all together. Just dead air. I called ATT and they came in this afternoon (by some act of God I happened to be home). It turns out the problem is in the "cable system" at ATT, and it will take another two days for that to get fixed.  No matter. I will go cable for a while and see how I like it. The guy will be here Sat afternoon ( an hour ATT is NOT available, BTW) Everyone I know/cares about knows my cell number, so I will use the cell until the land line is repaired.

Hi everyone, Long time no chat. Funny that the first post I've responded to in months is something my sister and I talk about almost everyday. VERIZON SUCKS. Don't do it. I went for 4 whole days without service because of an issue with THEM, and everyday I lose my connection for 3-4 hrs at a time. I'm sick of it and I'm going to contact Comcast this weekend to see what kind of deal I can get. If I can persuade you not to do Verizon HIGH SPEED/DLS...I will. They are not worth your money. I am so sick of this...if it happened once a month I wouldn't mind...but DAG, every freaking night from 5 until almost 9 or 10 at night? COME ON. That is not fair to me as a paying customer.

Hated DSL in a major way- I swear my internet was the same speed as my dial up. (we have a home security system that they said messed with it, but our neighbor had the same issue and no securuty system!) I switched to Cox cable and I LOVE it. Never had a problem with my internet! Cable has been great (I love my DVR and On Demand!!) |

true indeed. one of the issues with dsl is the lack of consistancy with the speed. but that all depends on how many users riding the signal from the local office. (i tried to keep it simple. i use to work for the phone company LOL) which is why they tell you the speeds are not guaranteed. i would bet the time of day you lose service or have slow service are the 'high traffic' times. where i am, most people have their internet thru the cable company because they got roped into a package of some sort. i refuse to subscribe to another time warner product ever again in life. if there was another cable company competing in my area i would go with them instead of TW but there are no others. in fact when verizon fios gets here time warner will be dust! i cannot wait til there are other alternatives to TW.

I guess we are pretty lucky - we have cable internet but it's Cox Communications (have our TV through them also) and we really like the company. The internet is really fast and reliable and Cox support is 24/7 and I find that wonderful because you know, the most serious problems happen at 3 am in the morning!
