Default want your thoughts on this....

Hey everyone. I had the opportunity to be able to attend a book signing here in New Jersey where I got to meet Star Jones Reynolds. I know that some of my friends here are mad at her for not having come right out and saying that she had the WLS, but after meeting her and reading her book, I understand her better and really admire her in a lot of ways. She did state in her book that she had a procedure done medically to assist with weightloss, but that she does not want to say what she had done since she wants people interested in WLS to rely on their doctor's advice to choose what is right for them. I can respect that and am proud to have met her. She is a very genuine person and has lost a lot of weight. She has suffered a lot through the media and I feel badly for that aspect in her life. IF I could figure out the whole picture thingy, I would post a picture of me with her, but I want to know how you feel about her decision to remain vague, and if you disagree/agree with how she is handling it.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I feel she is entitled to her privacy on this matter. ITS hard when your in the spot light.....and she doesnt want people following what she did and then have complications from "a surgery". SHE wants people to decide whats best for them and for people not to be influenced by a famous person.
I dont know the facts on this but recall hearing after AL ROKA had his surgery a young gal did have surgery (not even sure with his surgeon or not) and she had bad complications and he felt it was his fault. I wonder if that had a reason for her to keep things hush.
I dont know but it never bothers me she chooses to keep quiet of her method for weight loss...just my view.....
I am sure she weight had RNY or gastric banding. I know SHARON Osbourne had the band and lost alot from it.

BUT i think her privacy is fine, i think i will want this book it sounds wonderful! AND email craig im sure he will put up the pic of you with STAR!

ALL the best
lisa
PS: good talking to you today in chat! was a pleasure to meet u

Yeah, I actually really enjoyed reading her book a lot. She has a lot of good advice even if you aren't looking for that certain someone, about how to deflect negative people and surround yourself with postitive people that will help you. I may not always agree with her politically, but I do admire her. I will email Craig with the picture later.

I think its her decision if she wants to keep her medical business private.
I personally, don't plan to tell a lot people once I have the procedure..
I don't even tell people I'm having it done.
Some of my co-workers know and immediate family.

Thanks Craig, by the way, I liked the article in the newsletter. You have a lot of valid points there. Thanks for all the work that you do for others.

I think it is a personal and private matter. Just because she is famous does not mean she isn't entitled to keep some things in her life private. I actually commend Star for having the courage to stand up for what she believes.

Craig, I second the thanks this is a great place for support and you are awesome!! I have posted your link in a couple of related yahoo groups that i am in as well.

If Starr Jones doesn't want to tell then she shouldn't.
I wanted people to know what I did because I have a sister-in-law who battled anorexia for years and I didn't want people to think I was going that direction. .

It is an individual's right to have privacy even if they are a public icon.
