WHOOOPS.... THAT SHOULD SAY.... I HAD MY PRE-OP.... I sailed right through everything. I saw 4 people. The woman who finished up my paperwork...the lab guy who drew blood, the PA who checked me over and the nurse who came in to give me my pre surgical instructions. They were all curious as to why I wanted to have the surgery since I seemed to be the picture of health. Well.. I told them I wanted more years with my kids since I had them later in life. Even though my QUALITY of life is not too bad (could be better), I wanted more QUANTITY of life. MORE YEARS!!!!! I told the PA... I had already lost 10-15 years with my kids that people who have their kids in their early to mid 20's have. I'm 43 and my kids are only 2 and 4. One the lab guy took my BP.. it was originally 136/90. He said.. oh that's a bit high. (I've only had high bp when I was pregnant). The PA came in, asked if he took it with me sitting down, feet flat on the floor. I said no, so she took it again and it was 116/68. MUCH Better. Other than that..... everything was fine. I have to fill out a health care proxy. UGH!!! I tried to discuss it with DH as to life support, whether to "deny IV or tube feedings should my condition be irreversable". He doesn't want to talk about it. Did any of you have to do a health care proxy?? What did you put?? It's hard to say that you want someone to end your life if you have irreversible conditions. Anyway...... I guess i"m set to go in 13 days. PS.... a good friend of mine had her RNY GBS with Dr. O'Malley today at 10 am. Keep her in your prayers please.

A health care proxy is routine and required by everyone so don't be alarmed . it's just a precaution just incase anything goes wrong as for any precedure better safe than sorry

I have "advance directives" written in the will and family trust, and that covered the DNR subject (DNR=do not resusitate). The next 13 days will FLY! Keep us posted.
