Unhappy I Paniced!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED I HAVEN'T BEEN ON LATELY. I WENT TO MY INITIAL MEETING FOR THE WLS, AND I STARTED TO DOUBT MYSELF. I CRIED OFF AND ON, AND I KEEP TRYING TO REASON TO MYSELF IN MY HEAD THE PROS AND CONS. I DON'T KNOW IF I'M AFRAID OF FAILURE, OR I'M AFRAID OF CHANGE. THEY SAID THAT THE FIRST YEAR, YOUR SUCCESS IS 20% YOU AND 80% THE SURGERY. AFTER THAT IT FLIPS AND IT'S 20% THE SURGERY, AND 80% YOU. I PANICED AND TOLD MYSELF THAT I WOULD DIFINITELY FAIL. I HAVE SEEN OTHERS GAIN BACK THEIR WEIGHT AND APPEARANTLY MY WORST ENEMY, (MYSELF) KEEPS SAYING "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN DO ANY BETTER?" SO HERE I SIT WANTING TO DO THE WLS SO BAD I CAN'T STAND IT, AND THE ONLY THING STANDING IN MY WAY IS THE #*!**!#*!#** ON MY SHOULDER PUTTING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS IN MY HEAD. MY HEAD IS ALL OVER THE PLACE, NEED SOME PERSPECTIVE! (OR PHSYCOTHERAPY) MIKI

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

MIKI (((HUG))))
Well the emotions your experiencing we all go through deciding if this is the right choice or not for ourselves.
I do know this is a tool and it does have to be treated right to work.
HOPEFULLY after we loose the majority of weight we teach ourselfs
new and healthier eating habits.

RIGHT now im in the stage were i have to work at it to loose. BUT if i
stay at this size I am very happy too. I started at 310, I am now down to 167 lbs. I dont live in fear of death anymore. and to me that alone is a great feeling and made this worth it. BEFORE surgery i was a walking heart attack or stroke waiting to happen. NOW i am so healthy and active.

I am so pleased i choose this option for myself. AND its so worth the work now that i have to do to maintain my weight loss. I also have different tastes and cravings how which is helpting.

FOR me this was my last resort for getting healthy and being around
for my 3 small children. AND so far it worked!

DONT Know if this helped but all this going on in your brain right now
is normal! YOUR human like all of us.
I live in fear im gonna regain but i also work my best to make better
choices now too.
hugs

You will go through all sorts of emotions throughout this journey.
It's going to be tough.
It is NOT an easy way out, nor is the surgery the means to the end.
It's only the beginning of your journey, not the destination.
Take a read of this article by CraigT who hosts this site.
The surgery is a tool for you to buy you time to learn healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyle.
If you are not willing to to make the changes you need to, you are going to have a difficult time.
If you are willing, then it will be a difficult journey, sure, but just the fact that you are willing to make the changes will make it easier for you to follow your surgeon's instructions on the changes you need to make.
That said, that doesn't mean that you will fail at this. It probably is the most likely way for you to succeed as many others have.
The surgeon laid out to you very honestly the part you need to do in this. The surgeon can only make the physical change to give you a chance for the time being, and a program for you to enable yourself to form new habits.
Take your time in looking over things, don't rush to your conclusion. This is a change for life, so it's not an easy decision to make, and many take years and years to make their minds up either way.
The emotions you have to go through while trying to decide is not easy, but it will make you stronger in the long run, no matter what you decide, and enable you to go through your life, whichever road you take.

Default Miki....

Ok...so now you've heard from Fr1endly Lisa who is 15mos. post op...and Doc. I am 5 mos post op....

So, I'm in the 20% me, 80% surgery.....I love this stage...and can understand the slew of emotions you are going thru about the other part that Lisa is at - 80% You & 20% Surgery. I am scared out of my mind about that part...but, I'm committed to be in the present...not the future. I will have plenty of time to deal with that...as time goes by.

So...in liu of that - My "present" is awesome....the weight is coming off...I've lost 91# in less than 5mos....and I'm feeling sooooo great. I still have 94# to loose...so, I don't want to stop here...but, I still have 7 months until my year.....
If I had to tell you....IT IS SOOO SOOO WORTH it....I truely believe that I will be able to do this - like I've never succeeded before. When you are in the early months post op...you will see....b/c my new stomach is sooo sooo small...and tolerates differently....I can see how it will work. I will have to watch my calorie intake...and exercise!!

MIKI...try not to analize your future...see where you are now, in the present...what do you need for your life...now??? Now, in the present??

Thinking and praying for you...Hope you will stay on the boards for all the support you may need!! Good Luck & God Bless....

I totally agree with all of the above, I am only 2 months post op.. I too had some feelings when I thought is this all worth it. but that thought was short lived and now I feel great, I go for my 2 month checkup on Wed. and now I can live and move like all thoes thin people, going up and down steps dont worry me, gasping for air.. and now I have even joined a fitness exercise place.... go for it... your in a dark place right now... the light is shining and you will FIND it, you will have a positive attitude when all is aid and done... thinking of you.. Its scary trying to decide if its the right thing for you. I'm two weeks post op and already feel better than I have in years. I've lost almost 30lbs, I'm beginning to see some difference, (not as much as I want) but I know its coming. I just got done walking 2 miles and i'm not so tired that I just want to go to bed I feel good!! Granted I could walk it before the surgery, but I also knew it wouldn't help me lose weight. Now I know I'll see a difference in the scale and look forward to it!
Only you can decide if the WLS is for you and just know everyone of us have been where you are and have struggled with it.

I am one month post op and I have a slew of emotions going on mentioned in another post, but I will tell you this: it took me six months from my initial appointment to finally determine that I needed to do this for me and my family. As of today, I have not had an asthma attack in three weeks (which is the best in a year's time), and last night we went to our county fair and I wasn't praying to go home after the first 30 minutes.

Just a couple of things to consider. I will pray that you will be led in the direction for you and your family.

Talking I love you guys!

Thank you all for your help. I am really struggling with this, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one with these thoughts. You have all been an inspiration. I think I'm ready to take the next step. Hopefully this time next year, I'll be back in the saddle again, roping calves and barrel racing again. (boy do I miss that!) Your responses brought tears to my eyes, it's really means alot to me to have the support of my new friends. I usually am a cut up and joke around a lot, just having mixed emotions at the moment. (partly PMS) I hope that some day I am in the position to help some poor, confused, paniced soul too. Lots of love!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIKI
