| how to deal with "head turning" Quote:
The guy head turning one can be a bit tricky to deal with though, lots of positive male attention, when you've not really had it before can be a little difficult to cope with, might have to start a thread on that one!

PERFECT!! Ok so ya, this is a good one Heidi. How did/do you deal with that? I mean we are smart. sexy people. However there is BOUND to be alot more attention paid to us now that others notice, or accept us socially more often. Help me prepare for the up coming onslaught. How do you cope with men that you always knew, but notice your inner beauty only after your outer beauty is different? What are some self esteem elevating, awsome moments you've had in regards to the pick-up game? What should I watch out for? Some good comebacks? What do you say to those "nay-sayers" that say things like "ya shes lost alot of weight, BUT shes had the surgery." (dripping in sarcasm)? Anyone met those "mean girls" at a highschool reunion yet? Cuz i saw one of them at the grocery store last week..and man im going to have her looks beat by a continent when im done (oh, thats bad karma be nice Dianne). Tell me a story!!

Hmmm.. good discussion. I know that twice I've lost more than 75 pounds (both times I was single), the first time, I got hit on and picked up the first time I went out with a friend. I had lost 75 lbs so I weighed about 175..I actually carried my weight well before kids (now I'm all saggy), and looked darn good. I had fun, was a good girl, had some laughs and the next day... I PANICKED!!!! And back on came the weight..... Fast forward about 6years... I lose 75 lbs again... have my first major relationship, as short lived as it was.. he dumps me and.. guess what?? You got it... back on came the weight. Even though I was heavy, I still met my wonderful husband and really didn't even try to lose weight.
I know I've read that some have been hit on, head turned" on, whistled at... even though they're married.. so yea.... I'd like to have some amunition on this too.

I think I am the oddball on this one. When I was in my late teens/early twenties I was about 180 and looked darn good (as Martha put it ) and it never bothered me. I actually would enjoy it. I have battled my weight all of my life and that aspect just never seemed to faze me. I had actually been doing good with my weight and exercise at that age, but had been hit by a firetruck coming home from work one day which did substantial damage to my back. I was unable to work out for almost a year, but my diet did not change to incorporate that lack of activity. There came back 80 lbs. Then, from the weight coming back on, arthritis reared its ugly head within a year of the weight regain. That was about 4 years ago, around the time that I met my husband. Over the next two years from that point, I could barely walk. I even had to leave school because I couldn't walk across the quad anymore to get to my classes and I sure wasn't going to be the big girl on a scooter. So there came on the rest of the weight, until I hit my peak earlier this year.
DH thought (and still does) that I am beautiful the way that I am. I think he is going to have the harder time with the head turning than me. For me, I look forward to putting back on my "head turning" outfits!! I feel that there are many petty people out there, and have always been the one to not care about their opinions. We all know the saying about opinions...and everyone's got one. Personally, I enjoy the attention, but also live by something that I read when I was young.
I may be fat, but you're ugly.....and at least I can diet!!!! Ugly comes in all forms!

It all depends on how it's presented. Is it just a really nice compliment, or are they coming on so strong that you need to tell them to back off?
My story - I've been working with the same man for over 12 years. He's pretty good looking, well built and very happily married. He's gotten to know me well, in fact I tell my DH that if he ever has a situation where he doesn't understand me, just call Bill and he'll explain what's going on. LOL
Anyway, Bill has seen me lose and gain, and lose and gain. About a month ago I wore some tight jeans and a football jersey to work on a Friday. Bill said to me "don't take this the wrong way Boss, but man do you look hot!" How sweet was that? I just grinned and thanked him for noticing, then joked about how I had to wear a football jersey to get him to notice.

I'm one of those people who never had the loss of self esteem over body image...if you didn't like what you saw, it was REALLY & TRULY no skin off my back....I have NEVER cared what anyone thought about me...to know me is to love me, right?
The most difficult thing for me is remembering I'm not the fat chick anymore. My daughter will see people looking at me and I tell her she's crazy....cuz I still have "HEAVY" image in my brain....why on earth would ANYONE give me a 2nd look? Couple that with the fact that hubby has ALWAYS looked at me in exactly the same way...TRULY & UTTERLY DEVOTION & LOVE...
....I guess it's less of an issue for me....I don't see anything beyond him...he is my next breath....for me, there is nothing beyond his deliciousness worth seeing...

I have always been sexy! No but seriously I have never noticed when a woman does a second take on me. I am oblivious to that stuff so I haven't noticed any changes. BUT I do continue to tell people to kiss my fat white ass and just a few days ago someone I know told me I had to stop saying that because it does not ring true anymore. That made me feel good.

| I have to admit that uninvited male attention was one of the reasons I stayed heavy for as long as I did. I wore my fat suit to protect me from the evil world. My weight was absolutely my security blanket, emotionally, physically and any other way you can think of. I think this is why it took me so long to get up my nerve for surgery and even now I dress modestly and don't invite others attention. Even DH knows I don't consider "hot" a compliment ~ I'd much rather hear beautiful, thoughtful, sweet, caring..... pick one
