|  Sad news for those who went through Highland in Rochester...
As some of you may know.. Betty, one of the head nurses on the bariatric floor died of cancer about 2 months ago....
Now there is more sad news, Dr. Boss Passed away.... here is the email I received last night.... It is with great sadness that I am informing you that Dr. Boss passed
away on Saturday. I am adding the obituarie for those intereasted.

Boss, Thad J., M.D.
Pittsford: Thad Boss loved Christmas and went peacefully to Heaven on
Saturday, December 20, at the age of 43. He is survived by his best
friend and loving wife, Jackie (Orrego), and his children Jessica,
Chase and Sydney, his parents Berdell and Carolyn Boss, his brother
Joel and sister-in-law Diane, father and mother-in-law Cesar and
Nelly Orrego, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shyrl and Ed
Scalice, and his nieces, Carina, Adriana, Elizabeth, and nephew
Jonathan.
Dr. Boss was a surgeon at Geneva General Hospital and the Guthrie
Clinic in Sayre, PA. He was an expert in laparoscopic and minimally
invasive surgery at the University of Rochester's Division of
Bariatric and GI Surgery at Highland Hospital, where he oversaw
bariatric surgery research. He was Director of the Medical Student
Surgery Clerkship and Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery and
Bariatric Fellowship. He was respected by his colleagues, coworkers
and patients for his gentle nature and tender bedside manner. He was
a wonderful teacher and mentor to many new surgeons.
Thad cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them. His
greatest joy was taking them sailing on Lake Ontario and vacationing
at Nova Scotia and Disney World.
Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc.
(3325 Winton Road South) on Tuesday, 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 9:00 PM.
Thad's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of
the Transfiguration (50 West Bloomfield Road) on Wednesday at 9:00
AM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery (Canandaigua, NY). To leave an e-mail

Martha thanks so much for the information. I just cant get over it. How sad. And I think Betty is the nurse who use to work right in Omalleys office as the nurse practisioner and then left to work within the hospital. I saw her quite a bit after my surgery.

Yeah.. it is so sad. I never met Dr. Boss. He went out on medical leave just as I was entering the program. I didn't realize he was so young. My age. I met Betty at my initial seminar. She was so wonderful and funny.

I have chills reading the news. I thought Dr Boss was doing better. He was supposed to do my surgery and was a wonderful man.
