| Stepping back to move forward....
I haven't been myself lately....haven't cared about Christmas....haven't even put up a Christmas tree....haven't really cared whether I got out of bed some mornings....and here it is Christmas eve....3am....and I'm awake....I did go to bed, but I'm up for the day now...been waking up earlier and earlier...
Went to candelight service at church Sunday night...I cried through most of it...it makes me think about my mom...and this is the time of the year when I miss her the most....
I will probably have a job offer next week....interviewed on Monday...they are ready to make me an offer...it's a pay cut from what I was making and it looks like I will be starting over ONCE again....sometimes, you get tired of starting over....it seems like I've started over a 100 times....
went to the mall with my daughter....found a pair of jeans at American Eagle.......decided to try them on....they fit....I actually took 2 sizes in the dressing room..a 0 & a 2....came home with the ZEROS!!! My daughter is hardly speaking to me...she got a pair & they are 4's.....she's just as cute as she can be, and I try to tell her that ALL the time...I never realized I would wind up this size...and I never knew it would bother her so much....I REALLY have no clue how to handle that....I think she's TRULY happy for me, but in a way...TRULY threatened....though I'm not sure why...
I guess it's necessary to sometimes take a few steps back to propel yourself in a forward motion again...I have so much to be thankful for....and it's a new year...a new me...a new life...this is the way it's supposed to be....
I want my entire RR family to have the most wonderful holidays....no matter how you celebrate, celebrate life....love your family...take a few minutes to look around and see how blessed we ALL are.....and know that I'm taking this moment on Christmas eve to wish everyone happy holidays and happy new year!!!
MY NEW JEANS!!!

Merry christmas and happy holidays yourself! You look fabulous in your new jeans and I'm so glad you may be finally getting out of your slump job wise.
As for your daughter, all people respond differently to heavy people losing weight. My sister has never said a single word to me about my weight loss, instead she went ahead and lost about 15 lbs off her already svelt frame and people don't say anything about my 123 lb weight loss, it's all about her 15 lbs. Go figure. I guess some people need more attention and get scared when they think they may lose it. I guess I should take her weight loss as a compliment that she thought it was some sort of threat because I've never been in her league.
Anyways, good luck with the job and I'm sure next year the house will be decorated to the hilt!

You go girl! Glad to hear about any job offer, you were really getting bummed out. When DH was in the military everytime we moved I had to start out at the bottom rung. It sucked! It didn't matter that it was all government employment I still had to start out at the bottom at a new post. Finally we got settled worked for 20 years, made my way up to supervisor and blammo, my office moved to Ohio. I could have up rooted everything, moved to Columbus and maintained my grade or take a huge cut and go back to an Office Assistant and stay put. I am proud to say I am the best darned Office Assistant they have seen!!! They really love me here and that helps tremendously.
So hang in there kiddo. At least you are back in the work force and are getting back out with people. The economy is tough but you will be back where you were in no time. If you can get to a size zero you can do anything!!!!!!!

You jeans look great Kath! I know what you mean about starting over. I'm a contractor and every job is a new beginning. But there's a lot of good in that too!
Merry Christmas!

Kath,
I'm worried about you Sweetie. You are sounding very depressed and I think you ought to talk about it with your PCP. I know you have a lot to be down about right now, but make sure it's not clinical depression, because that's not going to just go away on it's own.
You and I started this journey at almost the same time. I've watched you lose all this weight and your joy at reaching smaller sizes. Now we're at the end of the weight loss journey and I suspect you are feeling like I am - "What now?". Our past year has been so dedicated to learning how to eat right and struggling to change, all the emotional ups and downs and now we're "done" and feeling like we don't have a direction. To make it worse, your career is also on hold, and as you've said, you're going to have to start over again. But remember how those start overs usually turn out to be a good thing - new people to know, learning how to do the same things a bit differently, being able to show them how to do it your way (and hopfully impress them too).
Take care of yourself. I really pray that things will get better soon.
Barb

Oh Kath I am so sorry that you are sad. I lost my mom also and I miss her so. I want you to be happy. Look where you have come from in such a short period of time. You look beautiful. You one of my inspirations. You dont know how much you have helped me. Sometimes this is a sad time of the year, but you have to look around and you will find someone so much worse off than you are. We can always find something to be thankful for and happy about. I know you will find a great job. You deserve it. Starting over is better than standing still waiting.. Things will work out for you I just know it. You are a truly special person and things will get better for you.. You daughter will get over the smaler size. I bet she is so proud of you and loves to say this is my MOM... Have a Merry Christmas and a much Happier New Year. ((( hugs hugs )))) Dixie

Kathy,
Yeah, I am worried for you and all my RR sisters. It seems to be a hard Christmas for everyone this year. It is nice that this forum is here for our journal entries to help each of us focus. That is how I see it, and I am very grateful.
I watched Grinch (the cartoon) last night. I can't find my kid's copy of the book, but if anyone has it, please look up the end of the text, when the Grinch realizes that Christmas is not about the presents or the tree or the lights, but something more. Offer up that text to this thread or make another, please. When I heard Boris Karloff recite that, I thought of all my RR sisters and how hard a time they are having this holiday season.
Loving You All.

(((HUGS))) My dear friend. I am so sorry that things don't seem too "bright" right now. I am sorry that your daughter feels threatened from your weightloss. She is absolutely gorgeous. You deserve all of your success and happiness from what you have achieved. I am sure that it is just teenage hormones. Who wants their mom to be smaller than them? As for your job prospect, THAT IS AWESOME! I wish you all the luck in the world. It may be a pay cut and starting all over but just think of the people who don't have jobs right now as you can well relate. There is a verse in the Quran that says," With hardship, comes ease". May God bless you and guide you.....

I'm sure missing your Mom makes everything all that more heavy to bare. But it looks like things are on their way back up - so Merry Christmas friend - here's to the best New Year |
