Question Taste buds change?

Question....... From reading some of your threads, it seems to me that some of you have experienced changes in taste, or that your taste buds have changed after the surgery. I want to know if this is common? Does this happen to just a few people or to everyone?
I would love if my taste buds changed. Maybe I would hate the taste of carbs or something. (I wish)

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I've read where lots of peoples tastes have changed. As for me, no. Things seem to taste the same.

Well for me i seem to have wanted different things...
and i found different flavors that were not my kind pre
op i enjoyed post op.

I was never an orange liker and now my favorite flavor in
PROPEL is mandrine orange...and crystal light orange tangerine.
I now like iced tea hated it pre op.
I am finding now further out that certain things are comeign okay
for some time the smell of sweets made me nausaus but thats going
away now wish it didnt.

POST op we all experience different. FOR many months food was not a bid deal but its all coming back now and its harder for me to loose. BUT if i didnt loose anymore I am okay at my current size as well.

HOPE that helps

Talking I haven't.....

....but, I would agree with Lisa, "...for me i seem to have wanted different things..."
I really do crave different things too! I really like fresh....and really don't crave fast food...which is surprising to me! We were a fast food family pre-op and pre-"our move to NYC"....

Now, part of not eatting out is a finance thing for us....but, also, I know what I'm eating if I cook. I really am enjoying it!! I do keep it simple though....and I'm loving cooking FRESH....

I'm gonna miss the all the veggies from the farmers market!! I get to go tomorrow morning!! whoooo hoooo!!!! I'm excited to try to cook with goards...and squash....if you all have good recipes - LET ME KNOW!!!

Don't worry MIKI....you'll be pleasantly surprised....and you will love the weight loss....I can't believe I am 5.2# from hitting the 100# Gone!!!! WOW....you will love it!

I'm post op 25 days and I've noticed my sense of smell has changed. I was a sensitive to food taste before... but now I notice it's even more. I'm still on pureed foods (HATE THIS STAGE) and I gag all the time because of the texture with the taste... yeah, not pleasant... but I do like the weight falling off... so for now it's lots of soups

I think my tastes have changed..before I could eat foods with maranaria sauce on it, now it actually makes me sick and even the smell..and I have to cook this stuff 2 times a month... but I crave a piece of toast.. and I am not a bread eater, never was...I loved donuts and pastries, now they dont even sound good... I still crave like crazy salads, but cant eat them yet and where I used to crave meat....I hate it now. It kinda makes it hard since I am supposed to eat mostly meat for the protein, but I am trying to be creative about it.

Talking Hey Janae....

I know that you are "hatin" Meats right now....so I was thinkin of all my friends who are vegitarians....and one in particular that is a weight lifter. He suggested to me to try TOFU....b/c it was high in protein...and to try it extra firm....but, now I've tried firm and medium....I don't think I could go softer than medium...the texture is like scrambled eggs but, with whatever flavor you are seasoning with....(for me it's usually teriaki...or soy...) I've also had it with black beans and cilantro. YUM!!!

Also...all your legumes....that is another great protein...also nuts.

About Salads....???? I thought you could eat salad?? I remember you could when Russ and I saw you....??
Anyhow...sorry babe.

Wellllll when I ate salad with you and Russ...it started to argue with me after you left. Very yummy and indulgent at the time, but paid a full refund on it later. I almost bought some tofu today at the commissary, but settled for buying some kind of frozen bean to eat instead. I am doing tuna okay here and there with lemon juice, eating cheeses, doing the occasional shake, and trying to eat meat where I can. Today I went to a MOPS meeting for the first time and managed some kind of egg like quiche or casserole with cheese in it. I have been doing a little better in that aspect. I don't crave meat, but have found small instances where I can tolerate it. I also do peanut butter to help. I will have to look for some tofu recipes and some seaweed paper though. Maybe I can look at the Asian Food Market next time hubby goes to the hobby store.
