Default A tad frustrated.

I'm getting a smidge frustrated with my weight. I have wavered between 230-231 up and down for 10 days. I've been following everything to a T. Granted, I'm only 1 month out today, but I would have thought I'd have lost at least a pound or two in the last week and a half. I'm also having constipation problems. Miralax doesn't seem to be helping. I only have one small bm maybe once a week. To top it off, I weighed 230.2 this morning.. then I got everyone breakfast, didn't eat or drink anything yet, went back upstairs, FINALLY had a bm (sorry if TMI) and weighed myself again... 230.6. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! It went UP slightly.

I've lost 16 lbs since surgery and I'm thinking it's not very much. I know I'm not to compare myself, but I know many who had surgery and lost 25-30 in the first month to 6 weeks. I even started upping my excercise since I got the go ahead to start on my eliptical machine.

I just thought I'd be moving right along.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

dont get frustrated you are doing fine. you are only a month out. your body is trying to heal and is holding on to everything it can to help it. if you can up ur fluids a bit that helps with the constipation. also understand exercise adds muscle so it may appear that the scale isnt moving or is moving in the wrong direction. DONT WEIGH. try on clothes instead

you are doing great. hang in there.

I feel your pain. I have only lost 26.5 lbs. since surgery and I had mine about 3 weeks before you did. I was getting really frustrated with the scale so I haven't got on them in a least a week. And I am going to TRY to stay away from them until my post op visit to the doctor which is about 12 days away. I am following the diet very well but I must admitt that I have been very lazy lately. Just this sort of drained feeling. I go back to work tomorrow so I am hoping that helps. Anyway about the constipation thing. A couple of weeks ago I got severally constipated to the point I was in alot of pain. Which in turn triggered these bouts of constant gagging and gut spasms that I have been having on an off since surgery. I ended up in the hospital. So I think if the Mirilax is not working for you then you should hurry and try to find something that will. Don't be discouraged about the weight. I know that is hard cause I do it to. But I think of it this way, there is no way with the little amount of food that we are eating that we are not going to lose weight. The body will do it on its on time.

I got stuck about 3 weeks out with no loss for about 7 days. However - I lost 2 inches in my waist and Chest/Back during that time.

After that, it went down steadily. Now, (7 weeks) it's been stuck for a week again and I've gone up a pound now and then. The scale has been put away for the week and I'll get it out next weekend for a check in. I have lost another inch in my waist though.

So, do measurements so that you can look at them when the scale stops.

Having a stall at about 3 weeks out is completely normal. It came off in chunks for me and still does. I will drop like 4 lbs in 1 week and then stall for 2 weeks and then 4 or 5 more lbs. It will pick up for you....just keep doing what you are doing.

It is nice to know I am not the only one having this problem. The constipation is my main issue right now. I am taking in enough fluids but the calcium I am taking is the culprit. I have always had problems with constipation when taking calcium. I addressed this with my doc initially and will do so again in 2 weeks at my 5 week post op visit.

It's early yet so don't get too frustrated. This was a tough time for me too. You'd see other people losing more weight and you are stuck at the same thing or even going up one or two pounds. Hang in there, trust me, it will come off.

Don't get frustrated your body is still healing and adjusting to your new "plumbing". It's very common to stall at this point. Before you know it whoosh things will move along again. I remember the frustration .
