Yup .. normal. Even before surgery, on my many attempts to lose weight, when I lost a significant amount, my tail bone hurt just as you described. I've noticed i'm looking my "shelf" and butt in the back so I'm anticipating that discomfort in the near future.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

LOL Martha! I also referred to my butt as my "shelf", and yes, it does hurt~~even in the movie theater!

Like Kath said - get a tailbone cushion! I found a few good ones on eBay and got a couple of different types. I've been real happy with the foam cushion that has the strategic cutout notch below the tailbone. Was okay with the hydro-cushion until it dumped its water into the seat cushion and went flat. Took awhile to get the water out of the chair!

There are also some inflatable donut types that should work well. The trick is to get support on the cheeks without sitting on the tailbone.

The only way this is going to go away is if you can repad the area with fat, but that's not why we're here! Live with it, love it for what it means!!

I had a terrible time with this after surgery. Not so much anymore, but I think I have just gotten used to it. I used to sit on a pillow on the recliner which wasn't hard at all. Judijo I too have a problem with my hip now. I always seem to recline on my right side on the couch propping up with my elbow on the arm. After about twenty minutes I have to move and it is hard because it hurts. I am trying to retrain myself to sit on the couch.

Thank you all for making me feel better about this. The lady next to me at work has to think I just am avoiding my work lately because I am getting up so much!

I am going to look into a cushion. I didn't even think about getting one of those. I should be able to find a selection down at a medical supply store out by me.

I do love the fact that it is because parts of me are shrinking, though! I am wearing jeans again, which I haven't done in a couple years because they were just too darn uncomfortable. I can actually be casual on our casual days now! LOL
