Default the job dilemma

So...the guy called me this afternoon...background check is done, all is in order...he wants me in there tomorrow to discuss compensation and make sure I understand their plan. That being said & understood, they will extend a formal offer to me....

HERE"S THE THING...I know it's going to be a huge step backwards financially....but given the economy right now, I feel like I should go ahead, take it and keep looking....yanno, that old cliche, "it's easier to find a job when you already have one..."

It's just going to be so freaking hard to accept a position, knowing in my mind, it's a temporary gig...my heart won't be in it, and I'll basically be collecting a paycheck...(which isn't much more than I make on unemployment....I haven't made this kind of money since high school).....

WHAT TO DO?!?!?!?!?!? UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

TAKE IT.
get out of the house. get dressed for work and go. it may not be much more financially but it does a body good to get back into the 'routine' eventhough you dont plan to stay. if there are medical benefits or any perks, use that as incentive. hell, if there is a nice place to walk on breaks THAT could be an incentive.

i think you should take it. the way the economy is, its more of a risk to stay on UI and have the extensions run our priot to finding something else than to take something if offered. just my thoughts....

blech.

Take the job and then own it! Then when something better comes around and you have to leave, at least they can say you were a fantastic employee.

I assume you are getting benefits of some sort? That is a little extra compensation, I guess.

that's what DDH said...he said "you could take this and COMPLETELY own it the way you do everything....and be there 10 years from now!!" LOL...he has SO much faith in me...but that's most of the reason why I married him (I can't talk about the other reasons on a public forum LOL)....

I have some other things working in the wings...I meet with the guy at 9am tomorrow morning....I think I'll probably take it.....I need to get back in the swing of things and feel my CAREER self-worth...it's such a huge part of what defines me...and I've been out of the loop for 7 months...

Kenya...I did get the extension...it's like 20 weeks....but it's comical compared to what I was making....

I agree with Kenya,Take it. And like you said it seems to be much easier to find a job when you have one. The economy today sucks no ones job is secure anymore. My company has been cutting heads for months now with no prior warnings. You just go in one day and they tell you to basically the economy sucks and BAM your on unemployment. Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet. But if it does, even though I have a really good paying professional position I would go to work at Walmart to keep my sanity. Just my way of thinking right now.

i got it too. it is a joke. i dont know if each state is diff but i am at the max and it is still less than 1/3 what i was taking home every week. i cant take it anymore. its more of an insult that anything. my fear is when that runs out...

so i say go for it. it could lead to something better.

I say take it....the unemployment will run out. You may move up within the company or something will fall in your lap when you least expect it! A friend of mine has been out of work since September. She just got an offer for a job yesterday accepted and then got another offer today and a call in for a second interview for another job. She had almost given up.

Maybe this is a stepping stone to something really cool that's lined up and waiting for you to take that first step? Always the optimist Who knows what connections you might make? Besides, if it doesnt work out you can reapply for unempl benes again ~ I just recently learned about that....
