i had my surgery on a tuesday and was back in the office part time the following monday.
my daughter was home from college and she came in with me on the first day in case i needed any help. i work in an office and don't do anything physical. i must add that when i got home i took LOOONG naps that first week. this was something that i did on my own, wasn't required to come back that soon, but i felt really good and didn't have any complications with my procedure.

My surgeon wrote my slip for work for one month. Physically it wanst that bad but I did get tired alot and it was good to get some of the mental things in check with dealing with the food and etc....I know all surgeons are different but at the time, April of 2007, almost 2 years ago, my surgeon took me out for one month.

I took my full 6 weeks, but then I had just closed on my new house so I took that time to work on the house (paint, remodel kitchen). I could have went back after a week or so. I felt that great.

I went back after two weeks. Same type of position you describe, high stress but low physical activity. I think I would have liked having an extra week or two, but there were other factors that brought me back in (part of that high stress stuff LOL). Each person is different, though, and your surgeon may have his/her own opinion.

I took off 2 full weeks after the surgery, then went back part time for the next 2 weeks, full time after that. The weeks that I went part time I came home and relaxed. Didn't have to nap. I was really happy with that plan. I wasn't wrung out and my work wasn't out of control when I went back full time. I'm a software engineer, so it was totally desk time, but moderate stress.
Good luck!

I was back at work exactly one week after having surgery. Physically I felt completely fine, but I was definitely exhausted! Slept alot more! But no pain or anything like that!

wow.. I am amazed at the quick recovery time for everyone. I see that you had your surgery on the 5th so the question is.. How do you feel?
If your company will allow you the full month off (as medical leave) then TAKE IT !! Use the extra time to clean a closet, walk in the park, read a book, rearrange your clothes in size order (this will come in handy in a few months). We don't get many opportunities to take time off with pay. (shhhhhhhh we will never tell.)

My doctor required I take at least 2 weeks. But before my 2 weeks were up I was back in the hospital. So I ended up out for 4 weeks. If I was you and if it is possible I would take at least 4 weeks. I have a very high stressful non physical job also. Because of the stress level I think that if I had went back after 2 weeks I would have strangled someone or myself. LOL
