| Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired Well as many of you know I had my surgery on 12*1*08.... And well I will have you all know that my Dr still has not released me to go back to work - due to my "Frothing" or as you and I might say throwing up... YUK... Everyday no what I eat - I did pretty good for about 4 days eating beans & cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner but come on there's only enough BEANS a person can eat...LOL.. I had an appt on Jan 8th and the Dr took one look at me and said "What's wrong with you, you don't look good"...He said I looked dehydrated and that was NOT a good thing - so he ordered me to go in on the 9th & have blood work done and also to have 3 liters of fluid put in me.... He said the throwing up could last as long as 3 months, it just depended on my body. Yup I cried people - You just don't know how bad I feel after I get sick it literally drains me so bad. So he ordered me off work for 2 more weeks and I have another appt on the 22nd this Thurs for more blood work and probably will need more fluids because I haven't been able to stop getting sick every single freaking day, no matter what I eat. I haven't been able to drink the full 64 oz of water each day either, and I see the inches coming off but it seems to me that the weight is awful slow coming off. I hope I can go back to work on the 26th because let me tell you - our funds are running low and my short term dissability is giving me some problems hadn't recieved a check since Dec until yesterday and only for 550$ - so I have got to get back to work - sick or not .... Has anyone else gone through this? Or is anyone else going through this? OMG I feel just awful at times - don't get me wrong I'd do it all over again if need be but, I'm just ready for this to end and for it to end forever and soon. I hope that everyone else is doing good.

I just don't understand. If it's not a stricture (did he check????) then I have never heard of any Dr saying you just have to wait it out. WTH???
Is it me? Did anyone else here throw up for the first few months? Besides when something went down too big or fast?

| No not at all like that.I just even on Fri. this past weekend due to not chewing enough I think, anyway the "barfs" were few and far between. I truly dont think this is quite right??? Please make you MD do some more tests than just blood. I am not a doc but I think I would not be staying like that for too long! Best of Luck to you> Kathy

It sounds like what I went through, which turned out to be a stricture. It IS NOT NORMAL for you to be barfing. Ask your doctor for an endoscopy to see if it's a stricture. You should be feeling fine by now and able to drink plenty of fluids. Call your doctor!

The first thing to check for is a stricture--are you sure you're fine there? You need to have a scope done if you haven't already.
Also, as well as causing dehydration, dehydration can make you worse.
Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

How horrible. No, I only threw up if I over ate. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, it really is odd.

This doesn't sound normal to me at all either. When I joked with my doc that I didn't believe he did anything because I wasn't having problems, his response was "that is how it should be. We don't want you to suffer!"
I am sorry you are going through this. I had surgery two weeks before you and, with the exception of forgetting, can get my fluids in and food stays down (unless I eat fast or don't chew good enough) I agree with the others and doc - you should have a scope done. The lady who had surgery same days as I in my program ended up with a stricture too. Same descriptions you give. She said it was like night and day after they corrected it. No more sickness and food is going the way she thought it would.
*hugs* and good luck! |

| If I am not mistaken I did bring that up about the stricture on my last appt and he and his PA along witht he nurses said they did NOT think that is what it was. They did put me on extra iron and I am also taking 2 huge horse pills of extra potassium as well. My appt is tomorrow at 1pm and I will bring that up again about the stricture because I just do NOT think I can continue like this for much longer. I also did that test again where you drink that nasty stuff and they are xraying you to make sure that you have no leakages or blockages and all was good with that. So we'll see what he says tomorrow - I will keep you all informed. Thanks for all the help and support. God Bless,

| being Sick
Hello I know how you feel about being sick all the time I was just like you for 3 months I had surgery Oct 15 2007 had to be put in hosptial Dec 6 2007 for 5 days...I had the frothing and dehydration I had tons of fluids before finally going to emergery room. They did all kind of test including going to a ear nose and throat doctors. They did a upper GI could not find anything wrong with me. Well after going to the emergery room and my blood was all out of wack...Dr Scott found out i had a fungal infections in my thoat to my stomach and starting treating me with antibolics and alot of different stuff for my blood...The first thing I was able to eat after being in hosptial for 4 days was a 2oz jar of beef baby food...I cried because of being so sick. I ask the doctor to reverse the operation because I didnt want to live like this....Well I did get better stayed on baby food for 3 weeks. Now I can eat just about anything...Please get them to check into this for you because them discovering that helped me get well.
I was drinking bottle water Dasi and I do not drink it any more because when I got home from hosptial I drunk a bottle and starting getting sick I believe it was all the minerals they have in it. I only drink tap water now..Havent drunk any bottle water since December 2007. I am very heathy except for a vitiaim D problem I am taking a 2000 iu of them a day along with my other vitiams. I wrote just like you are doing but no one ever answered me back with the same problem...
I hope you get well soon.....All my prayers are with you.
Trisha

Oh Nadine.. I can't imagine being that sick for that long. My surgery was 3 days after yours and I would be miserable having frothing and throwing up for that long. My prayers are with you that they find the culprit and get it resolved.
Keep us updated.
