I am having cravings in the evening. Now I am not eating bad foods but I have wanted something to eat. The only thing that really satisfies these cravings is coffee. Anyone have any ideas what to do?

coffee doesnt do it for me. when i need to eat ineed to eat. is it hunger or something else? gnawing kind of thing that only goes away with food/drink?? same time of the day/evening every day or random? i am only asking because at one point it was suggested that i had an ulcer and i was placed on nexium therapy (one pill before the last big meal) and that soothed it. i dont mean to caus undue concern. just the first thing that came to mind.

If it's before meals, you ???may??? have ulcer.
However, it just may be that the best thing to do is to get out and get some exercise in, if it's only walking--um, yeah, I guess it is cold out, and snow's covering the ground... |

Scott,
I have been having the same problem. I have found that 1/2 a banana or red grapes seem to help.

Scott night time is my issue too. I will eat one or two of the 2% cheese sticks or I try to have some leftover chicken or something like that. If I am really in the munchy mood I will have a bit of popcorn or some rice cakes.
If you are craving coffee maybe try that stuff Boots mentioned, the Big Train stuff.

Adding protein to your coffee (or a coffee flavored protein) is a really good idea - you are wanting the coffee anyway, and before it turns into the munchies add a scoop of some kind of protein and then you will get a satisfied, metabolism working on something feeling. Good luck - you are doing so fabulous - catch it before it goes any further.

| I have my apple at night. I always did and still do get evening hunger and well I had a heck of a time trying to beat it so I figured well perhaps I should just go with it..For my own sanity, so I have my apple snack at night and sometimes my yogurt. I try to keep my snacks good and 100 cal or less and usually the apple does the trick. I also have carrots as well if I am munchies I grab a few baby carrots and eat them slowly and that helps too sometimes.

| I'd suggest decaf ~ coffee counts for our fluid intake if it's decaf and sugar free right? Or, if you prefer something heartier, use skim milk and decaf expresso ~ just turn it into something healthy

Scott - I'm drinking my evening decaf coffee as I type. I have the same problem and coffee does it for me too!
