Yup, we went out tonight. Drove 15 miles at 5 degrees F with a strong cross wind so I could take her to Applebee's, but when we got there the parking lot was packed and had spilled into the lot of the motel next door. If you can't park it, you can't go in, and the noise level would have been frightful anyway!
So we went to a little restaurant the locals go to, good food, low prices, nothing fancy. The special was a 10 oz. sirloin, but Peanut had breakfast instead. Two eggs (scrambled), two sausage links, two pieces of French toast (no syrup), and two mugs of hot chocolate (hold the whipped cream.) I had a grilled chicken fajita salad, and it was really good. I left a lot of lettuce, but nothing interesting.
After we came home, I got a crock pot of chili ready for a church potluck tomorrow while she enjoyed the last peanuts Peanut will have for a month or more, and then we had some Blue Bunny SF ice cream bars. And then I had a fresh peach!
Tomorrow morning, she's back on the oh-so-enjoyable pre-op liquid diet everyone raves (or is it "rants"?) about. Then we countdown again.
This next month is going to be an interesting one. Her surgery in 10 days, mine in 20! She'll be eating again by April, I'll be able to use my left arm again by what ... July? August? At least Peanut is looking forward to her surgery!!
