Default Need Input and Advice

OK - I just passed the two month mark and I am still having trouble figuring how much to eat and remembering the small bites until it is too late. I'm worried I'm going to stretch my pouch if I don't figure this out.

Do any of you have any suggestions to remember to take smaller bites and know how much to eat?

Your help is gratefully appreciated!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

(((HUG))))
YOU wond stretch your pouch!
AND I am sure your healing nicely.
ME personally was the worst chewer.
BUT to help with my portion sizes
I did for months and months eat from
baby food bowls i had. I stopped
when i was done with that size
and it helped me tons.

BUT eating fast and chewing i fail miserably
with!

Boy Bren, did you ever hit on a sore subject with me!!!
I have been having a really hard time with that subject myself for the last few days.
For me, it's all about eating at regular times and correct foods.
I have fallen off my schedule badly this week and it sure shows up with my food. From smelling fantasy food to eating way too fast to white knuckling my way through head hunger.
Protein 1st, veggies next and the fruit if there is room. 20 minutes at least per meal and chew chew chew. Sometime I litterely watch the clock between chews. It can seem like a pain but it works.
Thank you posting because I had sort of become lost in the woods myself on this one. I hope this helps you...it did me!!!

It's still and always will be a learning process for you.
Remember that the habits and tastes concerning food you've aquired over all the years are what led you to the point that you needed the surgery to recover your health. So, you should keep in mind that it will not be easy to change all your old ways. This surgery will help you to lose your weight, but it won't change your old habits by itself, you are going to have to work on changing that. That's why the surgery is only a tool, and one of the many tools you will need to insure sucess over time.

So, whenever you have trouble trying to follow the instructions of your surgeon, just keep in mind, it takes a long time and a lot of effort to change your old mind set, and that is what this journey is in truth all about. Take your time in aquiring your new habits, don't be discouraged if you sometime forget what you need to do, just remember them the next time.

Default Very True!

FROM THE FIRST POST TO THE LAST ONE EVERYONE HAD VERY GOOD INPUT. I have learned alot just reading the posts. I, myself, now that I am this far out from surgery and am feeling great, find myself once in a while wanting to have that late night snack. I FIGHT IT OFF THOUGH. That was one of my worst habits. I do the too big of a mouthful once in a while also, but always catch myself with it and swallow part of it, then the other part. THAT WORKS FOR ME SO FAR. THANK GOD!! I see where you are coming from though. I find myself doing that when I am good and hungry. ANOTHER OLD HABIT I AM BATTLING. SO IT IS TRUE, THE WHOLE PROCESS DOES NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. GOOD LUCK THOUGH! I KNOW YOU WILL DO FINE

I use the baby spoon trick too...
I also take a small bite and remind myself to enjoy the taste... chew it up good... doesn't ALWAYS work... but if I say it in my head while I eat (yes, I talk to myself all the time *grin*), it helps.

I talk to myself cuz frequently it is the only person that will listen.

Thank you all for giving me ideas to try as well as a smile on my face. I remember telling my daughter when she was little, 'chew, chew, chew'. Funny to think I need to tell myself the same thing now.

I truly appreciate all of you taking the time to post. It truly helps!

Hugs,
Bren
