I'm back and with one less organ. I actually was in so much that I returned back to the ER and was then admitted to the hospital. I had surgery at 8:00 am this morning. I just got home aroun 7:00pm.
So glad this thing is out!!

I got really lucky in that regard. I had a gal bladder attack 3 weeks prior to my RNY. So they scheduled the RNY and gal bladder done at the same time. I was very fortunate to have had that happen before I had my surgery. Honestly I think that it should be done as routine when the RNY or lap band is done. Pull the gal bladder! It's nothing but problems...

With WLS, often, patients have a healthy GB to start with, which won't justify taking it out just in case. This is why many of you have a pre op sonogram done--to check if you already have stones, or the makings of. However, the probablity of developing stones isn't that low, so there are surgeons who put thier patients on meds to prevent them post op for a while.
Neither will insurance pay for something done just on anticipation. Besides, even if they are both done lap, doing two surgeries in one swoop is not an easy task fo the surgeon, it's going to divide his attention which I don't think you'd prefer.
