After suffering for several hours early this morning I had my daughter take me to the ER. Yeah, looks like the Gallbladder needs to come out. Grrrr
I know some of you have had these attacks after WLS. Can you give me more details? I have a busy weekend scheduled.
Now I have a really stupid question; they said clear liquids...does this mean protein shakes are okay?? I just had one a little while ago and I foamed!
My son just got back with my prescriptions. OMG this is no fun. I'm still in a lot of pain so off I go to get some night night meds.

Honey I had mine act up years ago after weight loss. Anything spicy no matter how minute will help set it off. Some times the stones if you have them will get placed in a certian way and block what needs to go through. I dont know about protein shakes that will have to wait for Doc. Im sorry this has happend to you honey. It litteraly sucks.

When Peanut had problems with her gall bladder many years ago, we found that fat set it off. When the body detects fat in the digestive system, it gives the gall bladder a few extra squeezes to get some additional gall into the system to help metabolize the fats. This doesn't help the stones stay calm! How much fat do your shakes have in them?
I know it works that way for normies. I imagine the same applies to us. It will not get well by itself; you're kinda stuck with this until you and it part company.
Good luck!

I had it bad!! 3 attacks a week or more for a period of almost 1 month. I had to call 911 a couple times and the last time I fainted from the pain in my doctors office. Just get it out ASAP!!! My doc said low fat diet....LOL.....everything I eat is low fat....didn't matter anything triggered an attack for me.

Yeah, the ER doc told me low fat too and I just gave her a funny look - like "did you even bother to read my chart?" I was lucky and didn't have any more attacks but get it out as soon as you can because you can have another one at any time.
I wasn't sent home with anything so I don't know what drugs you're taking. I also wasn't told to do liquids. Any time you eat anything you are going to stimulate the release of gall, but I guess fat does make it worse. All I can say is I hope you don't have any more attacks.

awww. ((KIMMY)). so sorry for your GB's painful exit from this world.
RE: clear liquids...if you can see through it, you can drink it. So unless your protein is clear (Isopure?) it is a no. Diluted juices, broths, jello, etc. You know the drill.
The recovery is, I am told, "lighter" than with WLS, but it is major surgery just the same. take it easy.
Hang in there.
