 |  how are you spending your 4th of july weekend?
what a wonderful friday ~ not scurrying around getting ready for work! slept a little late, fixed breakfast for dh and myself (scrambled eggs with spinach and swiss cheese); taking our son to see the new Ice Age movie 3D in a couple of hours: then shopping for some new clothes later this afternoon - hopefully dinner at either Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse. Saturday afternoon our family is going out to some friends lakehouse for BBQ (taking deviled eggs & low carb baked beans) boating, floating and fireworks.

Pretty much a lazy weekend. I'll be mowing the lawn in a few minutes (RR makes good task-avoidance behavior!) Tomorrow afternoon we'll be at a big celebration some friends of ours do every year. We're taking SF chocolate-banana cream pies. Then later either go into Mankato for fireworks or just be lazy and listen to the folks around here popping them off in the street. (I like living in a small town!!)

We are taking the kids to a huge display in Seattle. It is rated one of the top 5 in the country. It is called Chase Family Fourth. I am secretly excited because growing up in small town Missouri, I have never even dreamed of seeing a display of this magnitude. I am so excited that I can't even believe it...I feel like a kid!

DD and I went to Descanso Gardens...an LA county 25 acre garden. Beautiful, although she is not the nature nut I am. she whines. Nuff said.
tomorrow will be kabobs on the grill. Watch fireworks from afar. I don't like fireworks of any kind.
Sunday is DD's birthday. Brunch out, pedicures and ice cream cake (oh, yeah...I have to go get one of those) BBQ again.
I will read to myself the Declaration of Independence tomorrow sometime. Very important document and I thank God that there are men and women out there willing to fight for MY right to read that, and anything else, without fear.

| judijo - reading the Declaration of Independence ~ what an awesome idea. we will have to do that tomorrow with our son ~ we were just at Independence Hall a month ago, so it will have added meaning to him.

I will be going to my baby brothers house with his wife and kids. The hubby myself my son and his fiance. Have a cookout BBQ. Then go down the the farm about dusk and set off the illegal fireworks we purchased in SC this past March. They are legal in SC but here in Va anything that goes airborne is illegal unless you have a fireworks licence to set them off. We have done this for years on the old family farm which has a hundred acres so we go there not to bother anyone. I plan on taking pictures this year and hope to post some of my brother his family etc.. I hope everyone has a great 4th
