| Way O/T....drinking and driving
I am very upset right now. As most of you know I have been divorced 12 years or so. My son has never had a relationship with his father and a few years ago my daughter made the choice to try to be friends with him and his wife. They get along just fine.
Well last night my son found out that one of his cousins from Kansas (from ex's side) was in town. So Tony decided he was going to be the bigger man and went to the 4th celebration at his dad's house today. I was happy he went. I'm sure both son and dad were nervous. Needless to say beer has been pushed on son all day. Son is now being allowed to drive to Milwaukee for more partying. Yes, son is old enough to know better but this is not a normal situation for him. Why isn't his father stepping in and taking his keys??
I'm a nervous rec, in tears and ready to go over there to tell him off. It's a good thing I do not feel good or I might be doing a couple of these things.
Please say a prayer for all drivers tonight. Man I hate this kind of stuff.

Oh, my, ((((((HUGS))))))))
I don't want to distress you more, but, if such behavior continues, I hope the traffic police will catch him before any real damage is done. I don't think it's wrong for you to let your ex know one way or other that his condoning such behavior is irresponsible and unforgivable. Maybe write a letter? Or, since your daughter is grown up and should have the ability to understand, even though you may not like the idea, have your daughter let your ex know how you feel about such behaviors? Or maybe your ex is unsure whether he should step in and stop him, so if he knows that you won't allow it, he will step in and stop your son.
Hope a workable solution is found.

So sorry to hear this. I know it worries you. It would me also. Maybe you should have told him ( the X ) just how you feel. I guess I am a little hard on this because I lost a really close friend a few weeks ago to a drunk driver. He was on a motorcycle and a drunk driver hit him head on. He never stood a chance. I am sure your son is a smart guy and will not do this again and I am sure that you had a talk with him also.. lol all we can do is raise them right and pray for them. You are a great mother I am sure and I just bet he will listen to his mama. ((hugs)) dixie

Well son got home safe and sound I guess. He doesn't live with me. After I talked with my daughter last night and heard what all was going on she told her brother I was upset with him for even thinking he could drive to another city to keep his night time plans. He said he wasn't going to go and stopped drinking. He also said he would be sleeping on his dad's couch...honestly I didn't see that happening. Come on he hasn't talked with his dad in a dozen years. So the darn kid disappeared when no one was paying attention and went home. DD text him and he said he was fine but may still go to Milwaukee. He never did, once he relaxed at his own home he knew he had enough. I called him this morning and had a long talk with him.
Did I even mention that on Friday I received a text from daughter saying she was just left stranded at a concert in Milwaukee. I was sound asleep and get this text asking me what she should do. She was with a group of people but this guy, so called friend, drove because Lori invited her out-of-town cousins and their boyfriend & girlfriend and he had space for them. The Headliner was just beginning so Lori said she was going to go to the bathroom, she was in line for 35 minutes...guy got mad and left. I couldn't drive up there to get her because I was drugged up so I call son (same one as above) and him and my nephew go there at 1:30 am (after the Kenny Cheney concert) to pick her up. No one knew she had 4 other people with her. We are all freaking out that she was alone, she's all of 106 lbs and 5'2". Needless to say they didn't fit in my son's Jeep Wrangler. I came close this night also to calling ex to go get her and his relatives.
Did I mention I had emergency surgery on the 2nd? My kids cannot understand why I am so emotional right now. HUH!
What a weekend! Thanks for listening. Last night I really just had to vent. Here I was having this pity party by myself and all heck brakes out.
Tomorrow new day, new week. New Kim

My husband would say........ now you know why gators eat their young.
Honey this is a very tough and real situation. You telling your son how you feel is about all you can do. If you can.......and IF you want to I would say somthing to his Biological father. Yes Im not calling him his Dad. Takes a special man to be one.
Right now its your sons decison to step up be a man and say no. Its hard when pressure was put on him like it was. Im sure he thought about the man the whole entire time he was there and alot of memories and emotions had alot to do with him drinking like he did. Im glad he made it home however not in the right way he should have.
I have a son that is 24 and hes a alcholic. Hes been clean now for a few months but each day and I wonder if hes gonna be ok. Hes staying with me right now to help him stay clean. So far its working. He wasnt raised to drink nor was it stocked in the fridge or anything. It was a way he delt with things. Bad choice. Just like our eating. Ours was bit different we didnt harm no one but ourselfs to where the drinking can effect others lives in a drop of a hat.
I hope he learned somthing from this. I hate you had to suffer with this. You certinaly didnt need to. They dont think they just know what is going on at the time its going on without thinking how it affects others.
Hugs Kim. I know words right now isnt enough to help but know we are thinking about you. Pull some tough love on your son if needed. That is the only thing that helped me and the tough love is the hardest love you can show.
