Default Today sucked

My new job today has me very very frustrated. The unit manager is off on sick leave (since the week before I started). I am left to clean up the mess she left with retraining and retreading the people there. I have no back up and no one to talk to. When she gets back I don't want more of the same. I am in charge and everyone know it but when she gets back are all my BS&Ts going to be in for nothing? I don't want to go to the district manager because I don't want to make waves being so new. She told me on her last review by him that he said she was too laid back with the help. OMGOSH. I have never worked with such a spoiled group before in my entire career.
Do I put up and shut up for a week till she comes back or give the DM a call? I just need help with some ground work is all. Thanks for listening to me vent.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Red face Soooo Sorry....

.....to hear about all of this!
YUCK!!

In my opinion....I'm not one to sit quietly...and not "speak my mind". I'm a firm believer that, "It's not WHAT you say...it's HOW you say it!" Another thing to think of....if you are the "head honcho"....and you put up and shut up...until the other get's back....then you show your hand - which, I'm afraid, appears 'weak'....because you seem to be waiting for the big guns....

Does this make sense??

I think you should "do what you need to do!"....and speak to whoever it's necessary...and say what you need to say. Kill them with kindness...and compliments...and then "lay it on em"....
Whenever I'm confronting a difficult situation, I look at as many possitives as I can....to encourage them that I'm not there to 'chop em off at the knees." And then I get to the 'brass tacks' - they brought you there for a reason....not only because you are excellent chef - but, b/c you also presented yourself with power and authority. They believed you could do the job....they know what they have....and what they haven't.....

I'll be praying for your decision...I imagine this is difficult. I know you can do this Kat. You are an amazingly powerful and talented woman....and you've been given this amazing opportunity!

Let me know what you decide....I'm confident you will make the right decision "for YOU!"

((((((HUGS))))) Kat, on your frustrating situation.
Femme said it all. If the DM said your unit manager is too laid back, then obviously, he knows there's a problem, so I don't think he'd be that surprised hearing from you. It may even be that he may be expecting to hear the input from your fresh eye.
Good luck with all.

Thanks guys. You both reenforced my thoughts. It's just tough moving into this spot.
2 of these girls have been there for 3 years and are pretty good friends with the client. I have to be careful.

Glad to say that as bad as yesterday was, today was much better. I happened to be in the office doing paperwork when the DM called. He is as fed up with the situation as I am. It was going on long before I started. He said the matter will be addressed when the manager on sick leave returns next week.

Hey, Kat, you said in another thread that you were actually over qualified for the job. Maybe the DM had the mind of having someone who'd know better to be working on things. You may have a tough battle on your hands, but it's going to be points for you all around if you come out of it well.
