Talking One step closer!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally had my appointment the other day. You know, the one where they take before pics, and tell you all the bad things that can happen to you. I think they do that to make sure you are serious about it. They gave me the bad news though. I have to go to my doctor and be on a supervised diet and exercise program for 6 months first. She said it was to prove that I can't do it on my own. I said, "So I need to fail on purpose?" and she said "well, I can't tell you that, but you know what you need to do." So...........now I have to make an appointment with my doc. and go through that crap. I do have appointments for the sleep clinic, and the psyc. evaluation. I suppose I'm making headway.
I get down in the dumps and ask myself, "is it worth all this hoop-jumping", then I come to visit you guys and it lifts my spirits and I'm feeling better about it again. I suppose in the end I'll look back and think that the six months went fast. (i hope)
You guys look so great in your pics, and so happy, I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Most of us had to go through the diet/6month waiting period thing... it's best to loose some weight on the diet b/c you don't want to go in too heavy for your surgery (the risk is greater). Just enjoy the food more knowing it might be awhile before you'll be able to "eat" that way again.
Congrats... almost there! Next time this year you'll see just how worth it was!!

Talking You're right!

Thanks you guys, you are so comforting. I went to see my Dr. today, and I told him about the 6 mo. thing, and he asked me what I wanted him to do, when I started talking about it I started to cry like a blubbering idiot. (how embarrassing) He was very sweet, said we would get through this together, and will sent me a plan in the mail in a few days. Gave me a hug and sent me on my way. I love that guy.
So.............. I think this is the beginning of the count down, right?

Sounds like the beginning.
I hope he weighed you and documented your weight today.
then thats weigh in 1!
YOU go girl!
I know my surgeon actually requires preop weight loss. HE truly believes
it reduces a persons risk from complications!
I lost 25 lbs for my surgery!
but i did it in a month!!!
good luck and were here for all your support during this stage
of your journey!
I was even thinking it would be great if you followed a locarb high protein type plain. THAT kind of eating is how we eat post op. FOR me i used alot of my atkins rules post op keeping my carbs way down and my protein intake up. I think it helped me loose very rapidly and i had all my cravings in control.

GOOD LUCK! and let us know what kind of plan your gonna go on for this supervised diet stage of your journey.

(((((HUGS))))) Wishing you the best.
The 6 mo diet is to show proof that you are serious about losing weight, but the conventional diet does not work well for you.
You do need to prove that you can lose weight, and actually, with people who meet the criteria for bariatric surgery, 6 months on a supervised diet will not have you lose a truely significant amount of weight. I reality, you will probably lose just enough to make the surgery a tad easier, and just a little less of a chance for complications.

I'm sure you'll do fine, and you will be able to get done what you need to get done.
((((HUGS)))) again.

Good luck with your six months of dieting Miki. I am glad that you are one step closer and just think that by this time next year you could be a loser like us.
