Default I told my first person IRL that I was having the surgery

Of course I told her via email. I haven't heard back from her yet. She is my closest friend here in Boise. It was June of this year that my PCP told me to consider the surgery and when the process started. At that time I told my closest friend and her very frank words to me were "I will NOT support you if you have that surgery." Needless to say I haven't shared it w/her. January 12 is so close! I haven't told any family members and I really don't plan on telling them (right now). I have another board that I have been involved with since March '00 (all of our babies were due at the same time) and I have NOT told them though we share a lot of things. Two women on my board have had the surgery, but I really just don't. want. to. share with them. DH and DD and now my friend are the only ones that know. I'm anxiously awaiting her reply... Thanks for letting me bend your collective ear.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

hang in there ! PEOPLE do respond funky to the news. I didnt tell very many people...my dad, i felt it was to drastic...unfortunately he passed away 2 weeks prior to my surgery so never got to see how great it all turned out for me. PEOPLE react badly because most of them have heard at least one horror storey. THING is there are so many wonderful successful stories that they dont here of but we know all about.

I really only told my clients, as with all the preop doctor appointments i didnt want rumors to start that i was ill so i told them......but i didnt tell to many others till after they saw me loose 100 lbs and were like WOW how did you do it...thats when I chose to open up and tell people being i was healthy and successful. We all have heard some awful things from people regarding the news we were getting surgery!
AND then even post op you get the oddest comments!
we even started a thread around here on the things we were told post op....but i cant seem to locate it i tried!
hugs

Hang in there T, people will come arounf only when they come around.
Meanwhile, you are doing this for your health and a new chance at a better life for you.
Be confident in your spirits that this choice is the right one for you.
Only you can decide, you know.
