Default Hi - PCOS anyone?

Hi - I was curious if there are others that had PCOS (Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome) prior to surgery? I was told that WLS would allow me to lose enough weight to basically get rid of all of the pcos issues. If you have PCOS than you know it's very hard to lose weight with it.

I know I'm early out, but I was losing weight like gang busters and this past week (Since Saturday) I have not moved on the scale at all. Yes, I know I should not be weighing myself so much, but I'm so damn curious (aka impatient ).

Has anyone else hit a stall this early out? Could this be the PCOS rearing it's ugly head?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had this or have this. I dunno if its gone or not. But it didnt seem to slow me down. Your gonna have times that your weight is gonna stall for abit and then release it again. Its a normal thing.

Stay off the scale.

PCOS is quite common on this board. If you do a search you'll be able to bring up quite a few past threads.
Stalls at around where you are is quite normal, it isn't related to PCOS. It's just your body trying to catch up with the major surgery you subjected it to, just a few weeks ago. It takes a few months for your body to recover from all the physical and functional changes the surgery has caused.
Hang in there and let your body choose what is best for itself.

I stalled early but I honestly don't think it was the PCOS. I have found out from a lot of people on here, when you aren't losing weight, you are losing inches. Don't despair. I was stuck at 250 for almost two weeks. In those two weeks I grew out of my 24's and into my 20's. They just started falling off my behind (at the grocery store no less). So you may not lose weight, but you might need new pants. Remember scales can be out of wack. When you weight, what you are wearing now as opposed to last time, if you just ate, all of this can effect the scale. Your old jeans don't lie. They either fit or don't. My guess is, when you finish stalling, you are going to need new pants... or at the very least a belt that you can tighten those suckers on with.

The pounds will come off. Be patient. I too am in a stall right now. Again. But have learned that when stalled the inches come off so it's a good trade off.

PCOS What a wonderful little disorder that is. My life and weight were normal till she reared her ugly head!!!! That is why I am doing the RNY because it is so out of control now blood pressure is through the roof cholesterol is all over the place and not to mention the insulin resistance is terrible because I can't handle metformin I have very adverse reactions to it....

Here's hoping to it going back to sleep for ever after my surgery!!

Jodi - I was in the same place, PCOS wouldn't let me lose weight, I was on so many medications metformin and then water pills and my hair was falling out from it so we were trying different drugs. I'm 38, I need to take a handful of pills twice a day which made me sick and I still didn't lose weight and at risk for heart attack etc... I was done. This is what drove me to the wls surgery. Just being off of all of that medicine I feel so much better.
