Lightbulb Memories.

I don't know about all of you but I get really emotional this time of year and do alot of remembering/missing the people who I have lost over the years.
My Mother in Law has been gone fo over 20 years but there are days that I miss her as bad as I did the day she died. She loved the holidays and would go shopping at the drop of a hat!!! She was a true blue chocoholic and between her and My Father in Law they would go through no kidding at least 20 pounds of the giant boxes of candy you used to be able to by at the 5 & 10 store. We would tease her all the time.
Her tree had a different theme every year and to this day I still use some of the balls she bought way back in the 60's and so on. One year blue, one year red, and if she was really adventuresome she would mix her colors...hmmm. She was a great baker and although I have her nut horn recipe I have never tried it for fear of it not being the same. I need to try it... I do Miss her so very much, her name was Ruth.

Do you want to share a good memory or remember someone who is gone or still here even????
Or share a memoriy of ourselves like Little Lisa with her santa photos???? What a good time of the year to feel blessed with the people in our lives, in the past and present.
It warms my heart.....

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

oh Robbin, thank you for sharing. Brought tears to my eyes. I miss my MIL a bunch too. She died 3 years ago today. We miss her so much these days. She was full of life. Much like yours she would shop at the drop of a hat too. She loved life and loved her family. She would give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back if you wanted it. She was the best. She was more than my mother in law she was my friend! Thank you for letting me share! Happy holidays everyone!

Wow.. what a good topic, I was just thinking about the same things today. Well, lets see, my grandmother died 15 years ago on the 15th, and my sister died 4 years ago on the 20th, and as if that wasn't bad enough, my dad passed last year on Jan. 9th, and I had to come home from Iraq on emergency leave and bury him on the 14th, which was my 26th birthday, so this time of year is really difficult for me, and I just wish I could have them all back, they were all way too young to pass, with my grandma at 67, my sister at 27, and my dad at 48. But the only good thing that has come of it is I know now more than ever that I need the gastric surgery because I do not want to end up like my father did, and I was headed down that path at only 26. Life teaches us so many lessons, but sometimes you have to just step back and really think which ones mean the most.
I miss them all so much, but I know they are in heaven looking over me and routing me on. It's gonna be really hard this year being the first without my dad. He raised me, but I have the comfort of my 3 guardian angels always looking over my shoulder.
Thanks for starting this thread, it means a lot to me.

THIS time of year always brings me to think of both my parents. I lost my mom to lung cancer when i was 17 and my dad passed just 2 weeks prior to my gastric bypass. I always wish they were still around during the holiday season.

On Sept 11 2001 I lost someone very close to me.. She was my mothers best friend since childhood and like an aunt to us. She was at every family function, always with us for christmas and b day s and any important day in our lives...She became very close to my two older children. She worked in tower 2 of the world trade center along with my mother who thank god was not at work that day....We miss her dearly and make sure that we watch all the home videos with her in them and remember all the good times we had with her. SHe is such a fixture in our home that my two younger children who never met her know so much about her as if she was still here.

Also this is the first year we will celebrate christmas without our Rottie Hercules. He was put down lost year because he was suffering from bone cancer. He was ten years old. He loved Chirstmas. Mind you he was 150 pounds plus huge dog and rolled around in all the wrapping paper looking for his gifts from Santa. We are going to miss him very much this Christmas morning. He also liked to steal all the fresh sugar cookies we baked.

It is important to remember all the good times we had with those that are not with us anymore . We need to use their memory to remember to live every day as if it is your last. Love like its the last day you are here because you just never know!

It is ironic that this post was started as the other day I started to think about my Grandpa Moon and how much I miss him. He died right before the holidays when I was in high school and I was craving his homemade waffles the other night when I was stressing out wondering if he was watching down over me right then. He also was known for being a great Santa Claus and one year he even got pulled over by a cop that thought he might be a carjacker, but when he saw the costume he let him go...lol. Thanks for the memories Robbin. Great idea.

Oh you reminded me of our dog Markie(Choc Lab) Lisa., unlike your dog she was a mere 75 pound lap dog. Not quit so big....
But boy did she love Christmas morning.
Each of us would take a turn unwrapping something(which she would help pull the paper from) and when we were done she would run back the hall and wait for a new ball of paper to tear to pieces. She loved it and at times I had to watch her with what was left under the tree for she would pull them out and shake them to death...LOL.
Her last Christmas was very slow, in fact she stayed in the LR with us and would occasionally pick up a piece of paper and bite at it. She was so sick yet she still tryed to have a little more fun....
It was so very funny to watch how excited a silly dog could get., I swear she was part human!!!! She will be gone 3 years this next Jan., and she was our family.
Now my Son's dog comes and pretty much plays the same game...and life moves on....

Your memories are wonderful., and a true tribute to your loved ones. Keep the good memories in our hearts.
