So, for the last two days when I eat my meals of any substance about 15 minutes later they come back up.

I am chewing the cr@p out of them and making sure they are not dry, but still can't get it down. I am also eating slow and listening to my tummette (which is what we are now calling the pouch). The protein shakes are not going very well either.

I posted the other day about not tolerated the pills so much, but staggering them has helped some.

I am taking my nausea meds 3-4 times a day.

=sigh= I guess this is what I get about being so enthusiastic about "no troubles".

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm sorry you're not feeling so hot. You're only 3 wks out so what kinds of foods have you been eating? Also, what happens when you drink your protein shakes?

I would try going back on liquids for a day. If after that you're still having trouble call your surgeon.

I ate dark cherry jello tonight with two green beans on the side!

I am going to head back to the liquid side, and do the creamy and broth soups and such.

The protein is being a bear this week, but I froze some of it today and have it thawing a bit to be a "milkshake". Worth a try! Next is fruit slushies.

But I am getting my fluid intake!!!! I have dropped the crystal lite and am just doing WATER! Who would have thought?

Except for the barfing I feel great.

I am a little confused. Do most surgeons not have a specific timeline to follow post-op?

The weight loss program I am going through gave me a huge binder of what is allowed, and what is not allowed and the timeline I have to follow post-op. They say specifically in it that I will have to be on liquids for 2 weeks post-op (including the hosp stay). Then move slowly to puree foods for 2 weeks. Then move very slowly to solid foods. If a food upsets your stomach it says to wait 3-4 days before trying that food again. I almost want to type up everything in the sheets and post it here for others. I think it is really helpful. So could you try to stay on puree foods longer?

Here is a list of puree foods that are in my binder:
Cream of wheat or rice
mashed fruits (applesauce, mashed banana, pureed canned fruit w/o juice)
SF Jell-o
Mashed potatoes
SF Pudding
Cream Soup (pureed in a blender, and then strained)
light yogurt (no pieces)
apple sauce
Stage One baby foods
Vegetables- soft, peeled, and cooked (carrots, squash, or sweet potatoes- puree only)

I hope that helps. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Nicole, every surgeon has a different plan for his/her patients. Your surgeon has a different program for you than my surgeon had for me. Your binder is your roadmap to success. We all have one, and even though the highway numbers may be different, and some go around the hills and others go through them, the destination is the same for us all. But posting yours for general use would not be productive.

For instance, immediately post-op I was on clear liquids, but when I went home the next day, they cleared me for purees. Told me to be careful, and they called a few times to check on me, but other surgeons (like yours) have other ideas. This is why we always send the person back to his or her own surgeon. We can only talk in generalities - the surgeon talks in specifics.

After my appointment I was told to advance to the soft food stage slowly. I have only been doing the soft food (which they call very moist meats and such and some approved canned veggies).

They also said to listen to the pouch.

I posted mostly to whine! I can play around with the approved list and see what my pouchette will take.

Obviously pork roast, no matter how juicy and well chewed ain't working. Neither is the deli roast beef.

I think I am at the Commissary tomorrow getting some canned stuff. I usually hate canned veg, but if that is what my tumtum can hold the oky dokey. And I am stearing clear of the Heathy Choice deli meat. Barfaroony!

Ya know, I thought tossing cookies would hurt. Except for the fact that there is no liquid to help, it doesn't. I guess the lack of stomach acids makes a big difference.

Sorry Professer. I wasn't trying to be snippy. It just appeared to me that most of the seasoned veterans on this forum post the same sort of things in my binder. It has nothing to do with my surgeon. It has to do with the program. The program has 6 different surgeons and every single person who goes through that program gets the same info. The first surgeon I went to that was not in this program had the exact same info, just worded a little differently. So I thought that everyone got pretty much the same things. I am sorry if I was wrong. It just appeared to me that there are many people who do not have a lot of info for post op, but I most certainly could be wrong. I didn't see anything wrong with posting some things from my binder as there is nothing "bad" in there. It is all the same kinds of things I hear everyone else suggesting. Maybe I just worded things differently? If I offended anyone, I appologize. I did not mean to do so.

Naykrin- I really hope you start feeling better soon! Big hugs. Again, I hope I did not offend anyone. I was truly just asking and trying not to assume. Have a great night.

My own surgeon had me eating food early also. Had me chewing food at 3 weeks along and suggested me stop to get a hot dog. Needless to say I didnt eat but a couple bites with no bread. Yep there all different. Just like some do surgery on a Wend and have their patients return back to work the following monday which i think is way to early but some do? They are all different. Every one of them. Go buy what you Dr tells ya Naykin that is the only thing you can do. Yea I would pull back on the foods for a day or so. I will give you a reminder also for now.... try to leave the deli meat alone for a bit if you can. Sounds like a good choice but its really not. I think Doc will define the reason behind that one soon. Shes the one That suggested that to us when we go to chewing foods.
