Default Wow, what a difference a month makes!

Hi everybody! Hope all are healthy and happy. As a relatively new gastric bypass patient I cannot thank everyone for the joy and peace finding this web site has given me. When I went for my first month visit on Dec 7, I was telling my doctor's P.A. about this site and she wrote it down so she could visit and recommend it to all us "newies".
I still just cannot get chewing my food into nothingness. I threw up all weekend. My vitamins and any food I try to get down. The doctor tells you how important it is to get your vitamins and water in everyday but how can you if you get sick?
I am sort of sad right now that I cannot get it right. What am I doing wrong? Eating too fast? Not chewed enough? After eating "normally" (well, close to normal or I would not have weighed over 200 pounds!) it is so hard to change in a month what you've been doing for over 50 years. I'm so mad at myself, how can I fix it?
Can any of you wonderful people out there offer any advice? What about water? I even get pain with that!
I feel like such a moron, I can't even eat right and I loved to eat!
Any advice is appreciated, God bless, Donna

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Don't stress. Sounds like you are doing great. It is very difficult in the beginning to get in vitamins, protein and water to the amounts the surgeon request. Do the best you can. I would slow down a bit with your food and sometimes if you just don't feel chewing food is gonna sit right, go to something softer. The softer foods seem to sit better. In time you will get in the protein you need. I don't think there is anyone here that could get in all the required protein at 1 month post op. Are you drinking any kind of protein shake? Just do the best you can. As far as your water goes, have you tried drinking it room temperature? I still cannot drink cold water. I get cramping in my tummy when I do.

Maybe you need to just stay with soft foods a little longer to, it might help you learn the new techniques your body needs. But don't stress you will be fine.

Wink wow....

In the early early stages....this is a hard transition....
Take it easy on yourself...and slow!!

I too had a difficult time chewing....and chewing and chewing! And later had a little difficulty b/c I ate too fast, and didn't chew well. (foamies...yuck!) But...as soon as I slowed down....and concentrated on chewing...I had success!

Don't worry...you'll get it too!
I'm glad you are with us!!!

Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress.
As everyone says, don't stress out, take it slow and easy.
There is no way you are not going to lose weight, so don't get fooled by your brain, follow your body's lead.
If you find chewing vitamins difficult, maybe liquid vitamins will help you there.
Anyway, at this point for you, taking vitamins and minerals and other nutrition is not because you will immediately develop deficiencies, it's a precaution that you don't develop deficiencies. You still have some time before it really catches up with you, so take it easy, and get in what you can, and don't fret if you get a "refund" as some call it.
Your body will find its balance of its own accord.
