Unhappy Fallout

Well, My hair is falling out in droves! I told myself it wasn't so bad, but this is getting scary. I need to do the color thing, but I'm scared to death! I'm taking my vitamins and getting at least 43 gm of protien.

I know I should cut my hair short, but I think it will just look thinner. I'm trying very hard to keep it together, but I'm screaming on the inside

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HEY MICHELE!!!
this is a hard side effect we experience from the surgery.
I had it bad started between 3 and 4 months went on the entire
first 12 months.

I took it hard.......
(((HUG)))
i will add hear you wont go totally bald its more a thinning.
I took biotiin well before surgery, that will help your new growth.
JUST hang in there its a difficult phase. I even went shorter in my
hairstyle but still had problems.

THIS was hard for me cause at 310 lbs i always took pride in my hair not my body. SO it hit me. BUT i got thru it and now my hair is filling back in
rather nicely.
JUST try not to put extra stresses on the hair, i know my hair stylist wouldnt color my hair till the phase eased up !!!

Awww, (((((HUGS)))))
The only thing I can say is, it will stop and it will grow back, no matter how bad it may seem right now.
One word of caution, though.
Coloring your hair is going to do further damage, so it would be better if you kept it natural for the time being.

just wanted to also add MICHELE....
other people did not notice my hair...
I DID and my hairdresser.
BUT i think other people didnt see it cause i was shrinking
so the less hair blended with the smaller me.

HANG IN THERE

Thanks everyone. said someting to my hubby about my bald patch and he was like "yeah I noticed that, but I wasn't going to say anything." then he said, " but you look great and your feeling a lot better and the girls on the website said it would grow back and its only 6 months" and I'm like I could be bald by February!

I am going to go get the biotin tomorrow. then in a year or so I will have nice plush hair

Red face One thing to think about....

....is, if you cut your hair...you should get it layered a little. Don't cut it SUPER SHORT....just cut 3 or 4" off...like Janae's length. Then, it will still LOOK long...but then layer it a few inches...that will bring the body and thick look back to it.

I cut mine only 2" but then layered it from the longest up 2"...to give some lift. I am still loosing quite a bit of hair....have been now for the last 2 and a half months....
I asked my new doctor about it...and he said...you could do EVERYTHING perfect and you will still loose your hair! It's not vitamins or protein...it's a side effect of RAPID WEIGHT LOSS. So...with that...he said as my weight loss slows down...then my hair will slow in it's loss. I told him that I am only loosing about 6-7#'s a month now....(this is my second month of that....) he did back up that it is what was happening 3 months before. So....in September I was still loosing pretty good...I think I lost about 11 that month....so he said January and a little now I should be noticing the slowdown...and then February or so notice new hair growth!

I'm gonna color my hair tomorrow. It's been since October 2nd since I colored it...and I'm getting sooooo grey! So...for the holiday....and parties....and Christmas with our family...I'm gonna have my Red hair back. You'll see for my 8 month Post op Pics.

As for no one noticing....I don't know. I have a very very honest husband. He just tells me the way it is....so HE ASKED ME....how you doing with your hair loss? I asked can you notice...and he said definitely. He also reiterated that it didn't look BAD...but it was significantly thinner....he noticed a lot in my ponytails...and volume. That is when I bought the OJON from Sophora...and it makes my hair have a ton of volume....I love it.

Hang in there Michele....it will start coming back in - in a few months! Your progress is looking soooo great!

I have lost so much hair and did go for the really short cut. It was devastating however everyone loved it! I know that it is getting a little longer, love it!!! It is great! I have tons of layers. If you ever wanted to go short now could be the time. But just start off slow get 2 inches at a time like Deb said. We will all get through it together. I have heard them say that it won't all fall out and I am keeping faith in that! I hope so! I have had some really hard days with this so I totally understand. Tons of hugs and kisses!!! Keep your chin up!
