| Newbie |  well I am home Well hi there everyone, sorry that I did not let you all know about surgery. My GBS was on the 17th of November and things went okay, before he closed me up he checked for leaks and found one fixed it and then I went to recovery. What should have turned into 3 day stay in the hospital turned into a 16 day stay which 5 of were in ICU. Two days after the first surgery I was taken into emergency surgery, he found another leak and then my lungs gave out and I was unable to breath for my self. This landed me in ICU for 5 days. Then I had further complications when I got out of ICU I had a CTU x-ray and they found a lot of fluid in my abdominal cavity so I had to have more drains put in on top of the two JP’s I already had in me. Then we went in 3 days later to check the progress of the drains and found that it was only draining one side of the abdomen area and we had to put in a second one to get the left side. But all in all I am happy to report that I am alive and glad to be home with my family. Released from the hospital on the 3rd of December. |

| Newbie | Not sure what happened. The one surgeon for my lungs thinks that it was pneumonia and my surgeon thinks that it was just poor health and heavy smoking for so many years and they do tell you of the risks and I just happen to fall in the 1% that they tell you about but it was scary not just for me but for my husband as well. They did send me home on O2 for two weeks and I checked the other day at the doc’s office and I am at 95 on my saturation now with out the O2 so I hope to keep getting better and every day is like a new one and Thank you all for all your prayers and thoughts.
