Default 100 lbs down 69 to go and question!!!

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a wonderful new year. I know I did. I just wanted to say that I am officially down 100 lbs. Its been slow the last few days but its finally gone. I cant believe all the excess skin im starting to see. Also I have a question and would love opinions on it. I saw my doctor last week and he said that my goal of 145 is unrealistic and is good for a teenager at my height and that the current BMI scale is for people that are under 20 not 28 which I will be in 1 month. I told him that I didnt do the surgery to still be considered overweight. Im a little mad that he said he will be happy with me at 170. Thats 25 lbs more then I ever planned. Has anyone else heard this? Can someone explain this to me on why they think its okay for obese people that had the surgery not to ever go all the way down to normal BMI? All he said was it was unrealistic and I would look sick not healthy at 145......

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HI JESSICA...
well honestly my surgeons goal for me and my regular pcp was 165...
i always wanted 10 more lbs then that but seems my body likes this weight
alot.
I am 5 '5....and at this weight of 167 i fit in sizes 6, 8 and 10's. SO i am really happy in these sizes. HONESTLY, for me the last 10 that i want if probably skin and not matter what i do thats not gonna go away unless i opt surgery.
SO decide as you go.
NO need to make choices now. AND honestly your body will stop looseing at its ideal weight. AT least i found that and i got little nervous at one point that it was gonna stop.
ALL the best
and congratulations on that 100 lb mark!
ITS a great way to start off 2007!

Congratulations on your Century Club.

Now for your Q. First off, how tall are you? Where on the BMI scale does 145 put you? 24.9 or 22 (which is the median number for BMI)? If you are aiming for 22, then I would agree that it is a bit optimistic. However, if it's 24.9, then, pretty good. If 170 puts you within 29.9-25 (which is the overweight range) I think your surgeon is giving you that number so that you will not be disappointed with your results if and when you can't reach your personal goal.
I suggest, keep things just at that. Get to your surgeon's goal first, then aim for whatever personal goal you have. If you try all at once for your end goal, you will likely get frustrated from time to time with the stops and goes that you will invariably have during this journey.
Baby steps at a time is the way to go.

((((((HUGS))))))

Wink Jess!!!!

I'm sorry you are disappointed...that is a bummer!
I agree with Doc to strive for your Doctor's Goal first...and then see what your body does from there.
I too agree with Lisa....I think your body will stop at some point....(my fear is mine will stop before my personal goal...but honestly....I've met soooo many that still are loosing 18mos even 2yrs after surgery).
YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY NOW!!!! (In other words...)

Don't go there and worry yourself to prematurly...OK sweetie?
You are doing great....you are a determined young woman....and I believe you will do ALL you can to make your body do what YOU WANT YOUR BODY TO DO!! (am I right??)
I've never seen someone sooo focused...You lost SOOOO much weight before your surgery....I am soooo proud of you!

Just stay focused day to day.....don't worry about the future, it is not your's to "worry about."

Love you Jess!!!!
GREAT JOB...and welcome to the CENTURY CLUB!!!!
