| Eating the SAME thing
Since surgery has anyone got stuck wanting the same thing. For the last year almost everyday I eat a tostada from Taco Mayo. I crave it on the weekends when I'm off. I could be happy eating only this everyday and nothing else. Does anyone have a clue about why my body wants the same thing EVERYDAY???

| Yeah! You're talking to the queen of chocolate pudding! and cottage cheese~~~ Both have been my mainstay since surgery. I keep it sugar free and fat free and enjoy the protein and calcium, etc. but you'd think I'd be sick of it at some point ???? aparently not~~~~~

Well it looks like you have done very well eating it. Could be the flavors you really like. They have taste. Most mexican food does. I know alot of us used it when we were allowed to chew somthing Mexican food is somthing people tried and it actually helped. It got my stomach churning. I had a problem with mine not wanting to wake up and mexican food always kept mine going. Pluse there is alot of protein in it also. Even though I hve to take a nexium twice a day for GERD I have to eat stuff that still wakes mine upi.
SO what im saying is you have done wonderful and it has not hurt you what so ever so I would say eat one honey and continue what your doing!

I don't think there is anything wrong with routine in eating.
Funny, I go to weight watchers meetings and they embellish the importance of "variety" in eating. I think this is very SAD (Standard American Diet) protocol. There are cultures out there that are perfectly happy eating the same thing day after day, and would think it weird to change it up on a regular basis.
Personally, I think I am better off with the opposite...If I am in routine, there are no surprises, food-wise. I may make some minor changes from time to time, but I am most comfortable, especially on work days, with exactly the same foods day by day.
My two cents...your mileage may vary.

the most important thing is to look at your protein counts each day. The further you are post op the more important that is for you!
I tend to stay in the same foods for the most part. As long as you are staying in the protein requirement (higher for a man btw) and are not sliding into eating high carbs, then eating the same stuff is not a bad thing.
Most of that menu from that particular restaurant is not going to be high protein. It's not a bad mix of protein, complex proteins. But if you are 'craving' it ..that's a RED FLAG thing for me.
If I get to where I am thinking about one item or two even and really really want them, there's a problem Houston! Well you know what I mean I'm sure.
Just something to think about.

I seem to eat the same things all the time too. I'm stuck on chili and cottage cheese. I know the protein count and I love both so it's easy for me. This week I am going to make a list of foods and their protein count so maybe I can expand my selection without having to figure things out. I try not to eat anything unless it has substantial protein value, why waste a full pouch on nothingness? As long as it's working for you and you are satisfied, why change.

Being a cheese freak myself, I guess I will stuck forever with my new cheese mix. I just invented this mix, I put together the low-fat cheese I found in the blender (currently I have cheddar, mozzarela, 'jong' <- dutch cheese). Then each meal I will take the portion I'm supposed to eat of dairy (usually 50 to 100g) and melt in the microwave oven. And then I add whatever meat I am eating that day... Oooooh, I love it!

Cheese and Dairy are what I can not live without I have absolutely no adverse reactions to dairy and cheese thank God cause that is what got me through so far. Meat has been a very hard thing for me and Beef was my favorite as well as fish but I just can't eat them I try and they make me throw up I make sure that they are so well cut up and chewed but I just feel sick with them. I can have Ground beef so chilli works well for me I find that at work I like a thick soup and that does me all day.
It is low calorie and depending on the brand has a not bad protein count you can get ones with all sorts of beans pureed which is better for me. for snacks I try yogurt or to change it up a bit I will take shaved turkey deli meats and have that. I will be happy when I can start to get a bigger selection of foods that I can eat but I really am not interested in most foods and I just make dinner for everyone else and then fix something for me later on.

I'm hooked on salsa. Seriously... wow. SALSA!! On everything. Every day. I agree with Vickie, I think it's just a "flavor" thing. I made my hubby take me to eat Mexican three times last week. I'll order the chicken quesidillas... then scrape the chicken outta the shell and just eat the chicken with salsa. YUM. It's protein, and I have flavor.
I say if it's working for you, and it's not something that's "bad" for the pouch... knock yourself out!
