| Help - lunch w/coworkers!!!
Okay, so nobody at work knows that I had surgery (today is my first day back and I'm 2 weeks post op). Well my VERY good friend at work's birthday passed while I was out and they were waiting for me to get back from "vacation" to do lunch (we ALWAYS do lunch for birthdays here). Since it's her birthday, its her pick as to where to have lunch.
WHAT DO I DO??? I'm barely eating as is and am still learning what I can/can not eat (not to mention I'm on my pureed/mushy food stage).
Any suggestions are very welcome!!

Tell them ur tummy is a bit queezy and order some mashed potatoes and just nibble at them. Talk a lot so they won't look at what u r not eating. Push ur food around ur plate. Tell them u r trying to diet. Just get a drink due to ur "illness" and work on getting ur 64 oz. Stick food in ur napkin.
All of these tricks I have seen in other posts. Hope this helps! Have fun!

I was almost a year out before I ordered real food in a restaurant because I just never knew what will make me dump so up until a month ago whenever I ate in a restaurant I would order soup. I haven't told anyone but my sons and my ex-husband that I even had RNY either. Nobody knows. Maybe you could order french onion soup and ask for no croutons. If anyone asks just say you have a sore spot on your gums and you don't want to chew anything hard. If not french onion soup choose some other light soup. Avoid cream soup if you don't know yet if you are lactose intolarent.

I like the soup idea. Plus it must be very cold where you are and soup will warm you up. Two weeks out and back to work, you must be feeling pretty good, I am happy to hear that. I' sure all will go well, take it easy and enjoy your time with your friends.

| If it were me I would just order soup, most places have it. If there are chunks in it you could take your time eating around it, OR smash the chunks with your spoon while eating between bites. Take awhile eating, there shouldn't be any questions if eating soup I wouldn't think.

I agree. Maybe just say you're not feeling so great today and order the soup. I think that would squash any questions. If you're stomach is a little "icky" and you pick at some soup.... it seems normal to me. Good luck!

LOOOVE the soup suggestion!!! My friends at work are being super supportive of my "diet" and have complimented me a lot on the weight I lost. Luckily, because I am on the smaller side for WLS (I got approved b/c of co-morbid conditions), nobody thinks for a second I had surgery!! Thanks so much for the soup idea - everyone knows I had the "flu" last week so soup will seem totally normal and also because it is so damn cold here (got 2 1/2 feet of snow fri-sat & getting another foot tues/wed). I really appreciate all the great suggestions!
THANKS!!!

Why lie about it??? You are talking about lying to your "friends" just be honest. You will get more support in the long run that way. Who knows maybe some of them are considering a gastric bypass and you can help answer questions for them. Just my humble opinion but lying about it doesn't do you or them any good.
